For years I hunted everything from coyotes to grouse to elk with my trusty and extremely accurate .338WM. I shot it so much year around that the recoil never mattered and it had the added benefit of making everything under the .338 very tolerable to shoot. I’ve been doing a similar thing with the Smith model 69 in .44 mag and shooting it a lot! When I switch over to my 9mm or 10mm the recoil is akin to a .22 since I’m used to shooting full house loads in the .44. I do spend probably 10-1 dry firing versus live fire ensuring that my technique is unchanged and smooth.

I have sighted in several of my friend’s .338’s a Browning A-Bolt and a Safari grade Model 70….both had more felt recoil shooting the same loads which is a stock design/ergonomics issue.
