The USA is shifting $ millions of dollars in military aid from Egypt to Taiwan.
Taiwan and Japan have inked a mutual strategic partnership for defense. The end goal is to forge a Pacific Rim Nations pact that mirrors NATO for common defense and other purposes.

Is it your contention that smaller countries have no right to defend themselves from bigger countries that have clearly shown aggression and employed their aggression?
Have the smaller countries no right to ally with other like countries for interests in common?
Or should everyone just lay down and allow themselves to be run over by any aggressor?
No sir, it is my contention that Europe and Asia have been making war for thousands of years and we cannot afford to nor have any reason to jump into every fight they get going on. There is enough on the North American continent to keep us occupied and for that matter supplied. Thomas Jefferson advised to have "peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations-entangling alliances with none''. I really cannot help what goes on over in the western Pacific or Europe and time and history has proven we as a nation cannot pacify Asia or Europe and we would now be trillions of dollars ahead had we not allowed ourselves to be drawn into their wars. If only we could have stopped our expansion with the Alaska purchase. But as my brother is wont to say ''that ship has sailed".
But we could quit compounding our error and only enforce our right to sail the seas in commerce with nations agreeable to trade with us.
That’s a great fairy tale for sure.
Isolationism in today’s world is unthinkable except in fairy tales. The whole world is joined together at hip, not always moving in lockstep and communicating at the speed of light.
Dominant powers have always struggled with each other and always will. Can’t have 2 roosters in one hen house. One will prevail either by proxy or by direct means.
Where the USA vacates, that void will be filled by China and/or Russia.
Just the way it is, like it or not, there she be.
And just what is the problem with us letting Japan, Taiwan, Korea, China, Russia, NATO, Africa row their own boat? Do you think they would have the ability to launch a cross ocean invasion and takeover of North America?
What has our interventionist policy gotten us in the last 125 years? How are we better off for our meddling?
Patriotism (and religion) is the last refuge of a scoundrel.
