I doubt it as I don't think Israel would be that confident again.
That incident sailed right past boomers, they were too busy with their bread and circuses to care at all, but many people from subsequent generations are aware of it and would immediately recognize what was going on. Boomers would push back with their zeal to see (other) Americans sacrifice for Israel, but fortunately enough of them have died they can no longer swing the overall.
