Thanks for your input. I knew, from balistic charts, the 300 RUM is very close to the 30-338 but I didn't know there was a substantial recoil difference. The 300 RUM is impressive to be able to maintain well over 2,000 ft-lbs of energy at 400+ yds with a 200 or 180 gr. bullet. That's a rifle that will shoot a lot farther than I can.
