No one outlined the situation.... 223 can be used to aquire MANY other items.... as can a silent 22.... but I'm talking SHTF scenario.

If I had to simply choose one all around rifle period, I have to be weird and simply say a double lugged M1A, bedded into an Mc stock, and firing 168 tsx.... As far as I'm concerned there isn't much I wouldn't tackle with that rig.

Now IF I could substitute ammo as the need arises, no doubt, a good 3.5 inch 12 gauge pump. There isn't anything I couldn't tackle that way.

Funny thing... in a SHTF scenario, its my wife and I.... we'll be packing a 223 AR, a 45 pistol, a 22 pistol, and 12 ga 590..... I can get by there and could even dump the 45....

We can keep Larry Root and all his idiotic blabber and user names on here, but we can't get Ralph back..... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over....
