Oh, don't worry. The heavy, 8 1/4 lb. 1187 isn't going to gather much dust. I just got done going after Blue Grouse with it, again. Yesterday's hike started at 6100 ft, and proceeded about 4.5 miles to an elevation of 8700 ft. where the hunting started. This time, unlike the last two outings, I didn't find any birds. Pretty windy up there.
I have two lighter, well used guns. I just can hit more with this one. So, since I don't get many chances to shoot blues, I take it.
Any thing else I buy has to feel a little muzzle heavy and have enough weight to encourage me to follow through. Or at least that's what seems to work better for me.
So, I'll see what looks and feels right when I get around to getting something. E
