My Lipsey's is apparently adequate for small whitetails. I too get about 925-950 fps with the "Skeeter Load" of 7.5 grains Unique. However, for this deer I used the Sheriff Jim Wilson "Improved Skeeter Load" consisting of 8 grains Univeral Clays for 1,000fps. This seems a bit more accurate and cleaner burning than the original.

The bullet used was cast from a mid-1960s Lyman 429421 and has the controversial round grease groove. After loading I add a hollowpoint with the Forster Hollowpointer. My alloy of wheelweights is too hard for much expansion but accuracy seems to be improved. This bullet broke the near shoulder, passed through and penetrated six inches of clay.
