I've lived with it for 50 years. It is not a minor deal. It is thought that tinnitus might be the number three reason for suicide, to put it in perspective.
Regrettably, there is no cure - yet.
It was tacky to make the horseradish comment. I apologize. However; horseradish would at least take your mind off it for a few minutes, but who knows if it might make it worse later.
