They are indeed the same. I believe I read somewhere (possibly Boddington's SR II) that Bell DID NOT use the Mauser for most of his elephants. A healthy number, for sure, (and more than I ever would!) but he didn't kill the majority of them with the Mauser. Boddington claims that the greatest number were killed with the .318 W-R. If anyone knows otherwise, please speak up.
