Here is my advice regarding Winchester 100s in 284; ALWAYS insist on shooting a couple of magazines of ammo BEFORE buying it, as I have found Win 100s in 284 to be VERY MAGAZINE SENSITIVE. Win 100s in 243 and 308 will almost always feed from random magazines, but not so, in my experience, with the 284s.

I don't know what the distribution of 243, 284, and 308 are for the pre and post-'64 Win 100s, but I've owned a couple dozen of them over the past 30+ years and see more in 308 than 243 and more in 243 than 284. I currently have 3 post-'64 Win 100s, a 243 and 2 308s.

Also have 4 post-'64 Win 88s in 284, 2 rifles and 2 carbines, they are not magazine sensitive like the Win 100s are, probably because the action isn't cycled nearly as quickly.
