Ron_T: I own a Ruger #1-B in caliber 22 Hornet - I mounted a Leupold 6x18 variable power scope on it and to date I have killed MANY, MANY Varmints way out past 200 yards with it.
In fact I have it sighted in dead on at 200 yards and have killed Colony Varmints out to 300 yards or so with it.
Indeed the 22 Hornet does not have the laser like trajectory of a 204 Ruger or a 220 Swift - but with a Leica laser rangefinder and a familiarization with my handloads this lovely little Rifle is much more than 150 yards worthy.
I use pointy V-Max bullets in my Hornet and that helps out a bit.

I have what sounds like an identical setup and have hit turtles at about 250 yards. I really don't hunt varmits much but it's deadly on those pesky targets.
