West Palm Beach, FL in 1910. I grew up about 30 miles south of where this picture was taken (and about 50 years later!). I cannot imagine hanging out in the heat there wearing those clothes.

However, in 1910, if you went straight east from there about 2-3 miles you would be into some of the best marlin, sailfish and deep sea fishing in the world at that time.

One summer when I was little my mother and I spent a weekend at a church retreat in Boca Raton at an old resort hotel from the 1920's - no air conditioning. That first night the heat and mosquitoes were horrible, neither of us got any sleep. The next morning my mother drove all the way back home just to get an electric fan which made things at least tolerable but did nothing to keep the mosquitoes away.
