BTW - 1909 Argentine 98 actions were not in 7X57. They were 7.65X53 Belgian Mauser, but the Argies decided to add a milimeter and call it X54. Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and the Turks also used it.
Just reread my sentence. What I was trying to say is that an 09 Argentine action makes for a great 7X57 custom rifle which I had built. I bought two plain un-barreled 09 actions for $50 each in a pawn shop about 15 years ago. The other action is still as I bought it waiting to become something.
