Out near the front sight will be a stamp that tells you the month and year of production. Also neat if you ever get a misfire, just reach up, yank the end of the striker to re-cock it, and it might just fire on the second try.
I have a O3A3 that was sporterized some years before I bought it. When my eyes were younger I shot some groups around an inch at 100 yards, despite the two groove wartime barrel. Eventually a few years later I realized the dark spot in the barrel was actually a slight bulge. I haven't shot it since, but I might again some day.
