Few of the names listed are influential in a world wide, timeless fashion, but Christ, Tesla and Gutenberg affect every person every day...

The first great thing is to find yourself and for that you need solitude and contemplation. I can tell you deliverance will not come from the rushing noisy centers of civilization. It will come from the lonely places. Fridtjof Nansen

5) Julius Ceaser - maybe the most famous human ever. For 2000 years thousands of rulers have sought to emulate him and have used his very name as a title.
Thinking back on this one, I would probably put Caesar no higher than the second Emperor, behind Constantine as far as extended influence goes. Jesus would probably agree.

Not one person but an institution of many. The Catholic Church. Without it....No Western Civilization

I always wonder about the unsung folks who shaped history.
Pvt. Beauregard T. Calhoun, who took one too many nips of moonshine and failed to deliver Lee's message to Pickett - "On second thought, never mind".
Flight Officer Sigmund Falschweg, who in August 1940 replied to his bombardier, "Nein, I'm pretty sure das ist nicht London. Drop der bombs, dummkopf."
Luigi Nonsanitorio, Italian sailor in 1345 who begged his captain, "Hey, it'sa only a leetle-a rat, can I keepa him as a pet?"
And of course, that famous 5th century Roman monk, Padre Miope, who badly misspelled "celebrate"...
Gunnery, gunnery, gunnery. Hit the target, all else is twaddle!

Alexander predated the 2000 years by more than 3 centuries. He might have been 'influential' but the name great certainly doesn't apply. He was a butcher who invaded many countries, killing the residents simply because his army was stronger. They had done nothing to him and politics wasn't part of it. He just wanted the 'gory glory' by killing tens of thousands who couldn't defend themselves from him. Genghis Khan did the same. Biblical David was the same kind of ambitious conquering butcherous aashole as those you mention. I don't recall his targeted victims doing anything to him to warrant such annihilation. Of course there is the claim that God told him to do it so its ok, but numerous megalomaniacs have claimed inspiration from God. No, David was not at all what you say he was. Read the Bible. When the Hebrews moved into Canaan, God ordered them to kill every last person there because of their rampant sin. Joshua got the job started but after he died, they quit fighting and just let the remaining Canaanites alone. As a result, it was nothing but continuous warfare from then on. 300 years later, when Saul became king, he tried to deal with some of them and his battles were continued by David. They were following God's instructions but it was too late to complete the job. If the early Hebrews had followed God's orders, none of that would have happened. The various tribes were worshiping many different gods, sacrificing their children, and many other detestable sins. David wasn't perfect. The Bible tells of his murder of Uriah and his failure to discipline his rebellious sons, but it clearly says that he was a man after God's own heart. He repented and God forgave him for his failures but his battle against the Canaanite tribes wasn't a failure.

No, David was not at all what you say he was. Read the Bible....
1 Samuel 27:8-9 (KJV) 8 "And David and his men went up, and invaded the Geshurites, and the Gezrites, and the Amalekites: for those nations were of old the inhabitants of the land, as thou goest to Shur, even unto the land of Egypt.
9 And David smote the land, and left neither man nor woman alive, and took away the sheep, and the oxen, and the asses, and the camels, and the apparel, and returned, and came to Achish."
*** So what did they all do to David to warrant such barbarous actions by David?

St. (Emperor) Constantine. His conversion and rule allowed Christianity to flourish in the known world.

# 1. Jesus Christ. Without a doubt in my mind.
Did anyone mention Albert Einstein ?
And I’m surprised no one mentioned Thomas Jefferson. Or Ben Franklin. Or that sorry POS Abe Lincoln.
I’ll also throw in Thomas Edison & Alexander Graham Bell.
And Sam Colt, Oliver Winchester. And of course, John Moses Browning.

1.Moe 2.Larry 3.Curley,,,,nyuk nyuk 4.Stan Laurel 5.Oliver Hardy 6.Bill Murray 7.Chevy Chase 8.Milton Berle 9.Rodney Dangerfield 10.Jonathan Winters You are forgetting W.C. Fields, far, far ahead of Murray, Chase, Berle, and Dangerfield. L.W. Someone forgot Mel Brooks,, He even studied history and made a movie about it. Mostly about Great Men Geno PS, what about Grog.............or was it Lorp? Whoever cut their finger with a sharp obsidian flake when they broke the rock they were smashing a bone against to get the marrow out. Sure made killin' stuff easier for the human race. PPS Yes, Grog might have been a few more years ago than 2000, but I read the title of the thread, there's the little word "or" in there along with history.: "Ten most influential humans in history or of the last 2000 years" Let's not forget..............CLM...............................conjunction lives matter.
