No, it does not. In fact, there are two different Smith lines in part of my family tree. Two brothers and two sisters married into eachother's families. So Smith's on both sides. Edit: there was a local woman who made the news when she named her child at the hospital at birth. She was IRATE that no one got her child's name correct. She swore, and threw things, and made a ruckus. The child's name was recorded as La-a. The woman kept screaming "it's LADASHA! THE DASH AIN'T SILENT!!! (And neither was she)
