Just keeping it cheap and functional. Planning on spooling with 40-50lb Big Game or ANDE and maybe braid?
12/0 circles.

Pablo a 4/0 will work for everything but the the really big sharks. no problem catching a 100/200lb on it. I'd spool it with 100lb braid. you can get leader already made up at one of the tackle shops here or up there. Albert has a shop now for the last few yrs.

also get the 113HLW its wider and holds more line. there are a few rod makers in houston that make some nice custom surf rods.

I have leaders. But making extra ones wouldn't be difficult.
The husband of a nurse I work with also wraps and makes rods. Maybe I'll get the chance to wrap one myself, under his guidance.
6ft M/H rod? steel reel seat?

for a wide 4/0 i'd get a 10 ft 1052 jawbone blank.

Pending school things and if work allows we will likely make it.
Snapper outing is harder, busy with life, work stuff and then will head to Peru.

Roger,
September is looking better, schedules came out and I will have some flexibility. Likely to come with family if that is the case.
Separate question: which brand of tent/cot do you have? I remember it setup very easily.
