If sales tax and shipping makes an item cost more online that local, why the hell are you buying it?

Three reasons to shop online:

Price
Scarcity
Convenience

Do you not understand what has been posted on this thread.
What you just wrote is exactly the point....
Their are no more savings to be had online versus local in states collecting this tax now.

Snap shot of meat of thread again for ya.

Firearm online cost, shipping, state tax and receiving ffl use fee and background check fee which is usually 25 combined (10 for bg check and 15 for ffl use)

Vesus
Local cost , tax and 10 dollar background check.

Even with shipping and receiving ffl and back ground check fee
You saved money on the sales tax not being added.

rennie,

you just need to do more of these:

https://duckduckgo.com/?q=Buy+Nothing+days&t=ffsb&ia=web

The less we buy, the less taxes they have to give away, the more grateful the hobos bums (hobos work sometimes) will be for the pennies you toss them. smile

Besides that, one of the threads the other day mentioned ave household income is up $4000 a year. Yippee!. Even if they take half that means there's still $2000 to buy barrels and shiedt, right?

Now, lest y'all forget, the real purpose of the filthy lucre we so doggedly pursue and grudgingly dole out:

Think of every dime you give away in taxes as a private "stimulus program", if it makes you feel better. shocked

Them po' folks and government employees (yep, even the DMV ones), and especially them rotten politicians, spend money on groceries, beer, smokes, contractors, fishin' poles, and such. Keeps the 'conomy going, doncha know.

Geno

PS, I don't think of my taxes as a stimulus program, the only thing it stimulates in me is more wonder at where it's all goin'.

I buy online mostly because stores carry what they think I ought to buy, not what I want. In most cases, tax is cheaper than gas too, and time matters to me more than pinching the last fuggin' nickel.

Espeically with vehicles .
They make it sound oh not so bad with the little reduced formula to sock ya for sales tax basically for their state when you go to register it .
Luckily mil and fed employees are exempt based on relocations per job or duty requirements
Once ya retire though. it is a different story.

Nickels and a 9.4 something state sales tax are way different things.

Savings of 50 to 100 bucks or better just based on a sales tax for a item online, with a tax collection effort just enacted that ya didnt have ta pay before aint nickels.....

I will buy hard to find stuff online still no matter what.
But say im looking for a 800 dollar rifle that is common.
Online will not be an option anymore .
Local 10 dollar back ground check and sales tax with item cost .
Save ya money without the shipping and receiving ffl fee added from an online

Unless you run into massive sales as they occur which many sporting industry online sites have.
Something they might have ta do more often now if their volume of online sales goes down based on this now happening.

Hmmmm.....

Well, some of the states I went to didn't include fed employees, at least not those of us who elected to move for advancement purposes.

Fuggers even charged me on my little rowboat, because it needed the stickers.

Oh well, even when we manage to elect some "conservatives" , they still manage to find a way to get our money.

Virginia is quite serious about getting it's blood from citizens.

A local car dealer[huge with dealerships in several states] moved his residence to FL about 10 years back for tax purposes, after 3 years or so Virginia sent him a state income tax bill for all of the years since he had 'moved', upon his balking at this the state immediately produced all of his flight plans where he was flying back and forth on his personal plane while stating that he was spending enough time in Virginia that they were not accepting his FL residence status.
He died last year and the fight is continuing between state and family.
