My knuckles. POS! I just built a set of 6 step stringers x 5' wide damn things must weigh 150# . Going to haul them up to camp put themin front of the sliding door and be done with it!

If the manually operated folding step simply will not budge after some of the solvent/lube treatments recommended here, simply unbolt it from the underside of the rig, hit the joints hard with a good power washer, and then soak those joints with kroil - it will loosen then - so follow with final cleaning and keep it greased at the joints thereafter.

It doesn't sound like the kind of problem a 16 pound sledge won't fix.

On an RV?? Geno yes pretty common on the bigger high end units As a "worker bee", I've never been in the position to know about "bigger high end units".  I lived one summer in a 1977, 17' Ford C class home. That was in 2009 or so............No slider in that unit.  Even the newer ones, up to 1998 models, didn't have them. But at least the newer ones had operating A/C and steps.  Geno
