The 51st state should be Jefferson. Exactly what I was thinking. Rather than simply vote down the Dems ploy, the GOP should (but I know won't) counter with a presentation of the facts about states that are controlled by urban liberals. California is a perfect example. If DC is made a state, then there should be at least one new conservative-majority state carved out of California. Maybe even extend it through Oregon and Washington and into Nevada. That new state would come into creation with a good number of Congressional Representatives cleaved out of CA, OR, WA and Nevada and the two new senators would counter the two DC would get. If the argument is that the people of D.C. don't get certain elements of representation due to the fact that they aren't a state, then the same argument goes for all of those landlocked conservatives in liberal states. I like it. Been signing those petitions for years. Jefferson needs a deep-water port.

Coos Co (Coos Bay) OR would make a deepwater port, they were 100% on board with the Jefferson State application process a few years ago after a severe round of environmental decisions crippled the timber economy there. Haven't heard much lately, had their last meeting on June 17th in Coquille.
Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

It would be nice to become part of the 51st State. The name "Jefferson" might not fly though. As much as I hate the idea of that kind of PC crap.

Y'all cave on the very name of your so-called Conservative answer to the urban areas of Cali that you folks say run everything, but you're willing to give up the name that it has been known by for YEARS. It's just a name, but without that, what do you got?

I'd love for it to be Jefferson, I have no issue with it. Have supported the idea since the 70's. Matter of fact, split off the counties East of the Sierras, add in the Western Counties of AZ and a good chunk of NV outside the two big cities, and make another State called Franklin, or Kennedy, or CalNevAri for all I care. That would give "us" another conservative state. Try getting a 51st state, or 52 if they push through DC, with that name through congress. Odds are it ain't gonna happen.. I'd be willing to bet that the majority of folks that favor our separation from Cali and Oregon favor the Jefferson name. And we'd not give in, until it's time to schiedt or get off the pot. If Congress wouldn't pass it as Jefferson, would you suggest we keep trying to push it through as such or accept another name AND our new state. It's all well and good to talk tough, but sometimes practicality matters more for the end result. I care way way less about a name and a bunch more about the results.

I almost deleted my post. I won't apologize, because I meant it. I like a lot of the stuff you say on here. I understand where you're coming from but...it's like you're compromising on the first thing...we've already lost so much by compromise. That's what the enemy expects of us.
I kid around on here a lot but allow me a bit of leeway to sermonize...if you believe in the Bible, the devil loves strife and death...his children love it too and that is what we are ultimately up against. Our side consists of families and people who love peace and prosperity. We are willing to go to great lengths to keep those things. The other side constantly talks about compromise but it is not compromise when somebody who has nothing is willing to "compromise" with you and only take half of what you have. A compromise is where somebody gives and somebody else gives, but the communist idea of compromise is somebody gives and somebody gets.
So you've got a bunch of people who are willing to give up their name...to compromise, in order to get their state. It's just a name. What about the State of Obama? But hey, we've got these two new "Conservative" Senators that are gonna ride in on their white horses and save us from compromise when they were born of it.

Add a black star to the (USSA) flag? I still say let CA go. We can split off East Texas and still have fifty.

If it wasn't for all the Democrat scams over the years, they'd never win an election. The Republicans (Conservatives) could learn a few lessons from the Democrats/Liberals/Communists/Socialists..............but do they?.............No, instead all they do is beech about the way Democrats cheat. All's fair in love and war, and politics is war as far as I'm concerned. It used to be that there were certain issues that both parties could agree upon and act accordingly, but that is not the case anymore and in all likelihood never will be from here on out. The Democrats/Liberals/Communists/Socialists have decided to destroy this country and I see no good reason why Republicans/Conservatives should sit on their azzes and twiddle their thumbs, while taking the high road, and not fighting back. Our side needs to do whatever is necessary to save this country.........and I put emphasis on the word "whatever."

If the democrat anti-American/socialist/communist policies, rules, regulations, and taxes prevail then the American we know will be destroyed. There will be a civil war to get America back. If china could stop the spread of the virus to other parts of China why did they allow the spread outside of China? By allowing people to leave Wuhan province to the USA, Europe and Japan they delivered the virus to china's enemies. This was done on purpose and was an attack on us and our allies with a WMD. The democrats are in bed with the chinese. Democrats want control and to be able to track everyone to insure they are following the communist policies. Think one world government. The new world order. I think you're right.

It really is ridiculous to have a state that small with 2 senators. I just now figured that the average single county in Wyoming is almost 3 and 1/2 times the size of Rhode Island.

You understand it's along the same line of reasoning as the Electoral College? So that the small states have a voice and input, even if they only have a population allowing only one Representative. The Founders came up with a pretty decent system all the way around. Made it tough to amend the Constitution for a reason, in other words there better be a good reason and more than a simple majority of the States better agree with that reason. Made the representation of the States in Congress and the construction of that body with two parts into a system that's worked for centuries. I'll not complain about RI having two Senators................Now, if they want to even out the number of Congressmen............NO WAY.

The people in DC crying about a lack of senators and a non voting Rep need to be reminded that they voluntarily live there. No one forced that on them. And if we want to discuss the land surrounding the Gov complexes in terms of statehood, shouldn’t some of it go to VA and some to MD? They gave up land to form the District.
You want a senator to vote for?
