Just got up. Any overnight news?

Read that Edgewater Church in Grants Pass is open for refugees. Also that the Chevy dealer in Ashland spent the night transporting nursing home residents to safety. Kudos to them.

Inciweb hasn't caught up. None of those are showing yet. Any word yet on how they got started?

Yes, they can spread like that if conditions are right. Read up on the Fire of 1910. In only 3 days, it burned 4700 square miles in north Idaho, WA, MT, and BC.

And shortly after 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, emergency alerts were sent to phones saying the Level 3 -- GO NOW -- evacuation areas had expanded.

Residents south of Oregon 211 Estacada to Woodburn were ordered to evacuate immediately. And residents northeast of Oregon 224 from Clackamas River to Wildcat were warned to get ready to evacuate.

Most of the southern half of Clackamas County is now under a Level 3 -- GO NOW -- evacuation order.

It just seems to me that if we can afford a Space Force, we should be able to afford a fire force. Instead of moving all the military planes out of harms way, why can’t we retrofit some of them with water and fire retardant dropping capability? We are paying for those aircraft and pilots anyway just sitting there. Why not? I can’t imagine the frustration of being a fire fighter out there on the line in those temperatures with nothing but a shovel or a hoe facing that kind of extensive fire in those rugged conditions.

That's mind boggling.

The pilots currently flying the fire fighting planes get 500 dollars per hour. They might not like the Air Force taking their jobs. I had a cousin who did it. 250 per hr just being on call. Edk

For example, he said the Riverside Fire exploded in size to 10,000 acres and moved 17 miles just Tuesday.

Some more news.

Info may be erroneous as to smaller fires. Much hyperbole on the net. For every comment like Home Depot burned down, another comment says it's still there. Hard to sort it all out! One thing is certain, Oregon is burning up from the Columbia river to California and it cannot be a coincidence, IMO.

Ain't no shovel and hoe about it. Maybe if the winds stop they might be able to do something proactive, but not before.

There's some chatter about a red pickup being spotted near three of the fires but I haven't read anything specific about it.

Just finished loading the truck and utility trailer. Water, food and clothing. Heading north to drop off at the casino, the gathering place for evacuated people of the two- four-two fire! If you have time, help with the needs in your community!

God bless you all, praying for your safety and your property. We had in Arizona some years ago the Rodeo-Chedeski fire that destroyed thousands of acres of the Mogollon Rim, including towns and other properties.

It was actually two large fires merging into one. Each started by an individual. On the west side it was a gal who was lost and started a signal fire with her spare tire. On the east side of was a native American from the nearby rez who wanted to get paid as a firefighter.

Arsonists should be hunted down quick and swift justice served. If it is indeed terrorist related, the feds need to pull out all stops and put the hammer down.

Also heard this morning that the McKenzie River corridor is burning out of control. The most beautiful recreational land in Oregon. I grew up hunting blacktail and black bear there, picking huckleberries in the high country, bowhunting elk, fishing for oversized rainbows. Fire going right up the river as I understand it, but sounds like it started down low near Springfield in town and is following the wind up the west slope of the Cascades.

Usually these forest fires start in the timberlands, not in town. Seems to me there's an awful lot of residential and commercial land fire interface with most of these fires which is far above the norm. If true, that would seem to indicate someone is deliberately setting them to inflict damage. At ths point, that's just my opinion. Time will tell.

Authorities specifically asked people to stay out of the affected areas. We also read there were fires near us so we weren't sure if we would need to prepare. Now it doesn't seem like there are, but ???

One thing I learned since yesterday is that information is all over the map. I tried relaying what I was finding as it was happening but there's a lot of false information out there so it's hard to know what's really happening. There are tons of people in Medford asking for information on the situation in their back yards and they can't get it. It's been hard to track.
