Assuming it really is arson, I think these types of arsonists should simply be put to death. Of course, that ain't gonna happen.

I spent the afternoon going down to Ashland and looking at the destruction that has been done in the last 24 hours...

I can talk about things that only locals would know, but here goes anyway....common denominator, is that these fires were multiple fires started last night... pretty much up and down the Bear Creek Greenway.. they terminated at the south, where the trail ends in Ashland...Phoenix and Talent, all access is blocked.. but seeing thru the threes that were burnt down along the Greenway, Talent and Phoenix have very little left standing, when looking at it going south on I 5....These fires were along a line of 20 miles north to south.. the winds contrary to that...

I stopped at Costco in Central Point and got fuel at 3: 15....Saw a huge plume from the location 15 minutes later down the freeway... got off and looked back north, and there was this huge plume in the sky, like a large Airliner sized plane had must crashed nose first into the ground.... it turned out that it was started about 200 yds down the street... they are calling it Greenway Fire MM 24 now.. Mile Marker 24...off the Bear Creek Greenway....broad daylight with plenty of witnesses.... Old condemned barn type building, over grown lot, and a big brush pile... Some Idiot walked out of the Greenway Area, lit a road flare and threw it in the bottom of the brush pile and walked back toward the Greenway, where he came from....

he was caught 15 minutes later... Bragged about belonging to Antifa....now we'll see what its released as, from the local Media outlets...

https://fr.ebeneinfo.com/i-5-beginn...s-work-to-contain-fire-in-central-point/

its almost like they are opening up about this, and they have it in their head they won't get prosecuted.. the same as it is in Potlandia...I'm concerned about tonight... It would take someone stopping at the rest area a mile from my house off the freeway... walk across the road behind the Rest Area and just toss a road flare into the woods on the other side of it, and this entire neighborhood will be going up in flames.... its very wooded...every were is vulnerable any where here in Oregon....

and these are being started where people live and the destruction will be large, in your face and personal...

Left home with Blue Sky at noon, got home at 7, and the smoke is so thick you can barely make out the mountains around the perimeter of town....Fire started by Antifa people down in Happy Camp, has grown 30,000 acres or more since it started yesterday.. I think their estimate is a little short...

I certainly hope, if it's learned and confirmed that arsonists did these...it's not a misdemeanor, but FELONY.

From what I've heard, people have died.

It's murder.

Several years ago a fire fighter died fighting a house fire near here that was arson. The arsonist was caught, convicted of first degree murder and sent away for life.

Seafire.

We were in Ashland today for a Dr appt. One of the folks that worked on me lived on a street there where one of the fires started yesterday, said she got lucky the wind switched and blew away from her home, places right up the road are gone though. Another one was up in GP and couldn't get home to Ashland to her daughter except by going around Mt Ashland on some dirt roads, said she felt fortunate she had a little RV or she would have been a lot later waiting for them to open the roads again.

Wife went into town while I was in the Dr to get a coffee and bagel. Said many places in town were closed.

We usually take the 5 from the 66 onramp N to the 19 exit, but went through town instead this morning in case they had all traffic getting off there. Is that road that hooks back south towards Ashland proper about where the Greenway thing ends? Seems as we go over the little creek there at the light there's always homeless looking folks hanging out there.

Do you happen to have a link or info on that Happy Camp/Antifa deal? Sure seems like a fugged up place for them to torch. I guess it's likely Trump Territory, if true maybe that was their thinking?

Hope they stay away from your place. Stay safe

You'll hopefully not need the safety provided by the ag lands there.

Sure will be interesting when/if they find out how many of these are "arson". Years ago I saw folks warning about how easy it would be to get out to cause that kind of havoc during a windstorm which was already causing fire. Or dry lightning storms.

Sure hope them fuggers don't come around here.

Have lived through a few big ones close by. Not the kind of excitement one really needs in life.

Hope it goes well for you and yours tonight.

Do you have a link to the arrest made of the arsonist?

A couple of the fires have known causes! Car started one near Ashland! Some others must be man set! Too many to quick, spread out, but in a line down I5! The one in Happy Camp, I will wait until more informatio is released! I figured Happy Camp was probably, from making pot extracts, gone boom. Or meth cookers blowing something up! Being a skeptic, thats what I expect from the Happy Camp area!
