I started this during the early stages of the covid quarantine. I had way to much time on my hands and decided I needed no wanted another rifle. I have a thing for single shots and bought a 220 swift as a donor rifle. So far it loves 69 grains of R19 and Sierra 165 BTSP. After deer season I'm going to play with 200 grain Accubonds' I refer to it as The Covid 19 Super 30. Thanks for the positive comments it's fast becoming a favorite.

I'm curious as to what finish you used on the wood. Also, would you share who did the color case hardening? (I'm thinking of cch'ing an old High Wall receiver.)

I'll have to ask the smith. I know he blends some different ingredients for the wood finish. The same company did the case color on this High Wall which was last years project. Caliber here is 38-55

Not to derail, but what is a #1 worth if buying to customize. Cut down, oil soaked stock, a couple metal scratches.
I should to either get stocks or sell it.

I paid $800 for the donor rifle. About 5 years ago I used another #1 for a project and paid in the range of $500-600 for it. I just look on either GB or GI for the cheapest one I could find.

Perfect builds, I love English walnut, as well as the 300 H&H and 38-55 WCF, fair weather hunting beauties.
