I have several fine rifles for these cartridges, which I enjoy. My favorite is probably the Atkinson Custom in 6.5x55 Swede. I also enjoy black powder and have several .50 and .56 cal Mountain Rifles.

I've been carrying my Husqvarna 7X57 this year. It shoots good for an old rifle but carries great. When the buck stepped out of the thick stuff at about 30 yards I reached for my Ruger Blackhawk 44 magnum loaded with some hard cast 44 special loads. The rifle just didn't seem to be the right tool for the job.

300 win mag as ammo is readily available most anywhere should you need more or forget to pack when you travel. Can be loaded for the biggest of NA game and also tamed down for smaller critters.
Barrel length of a win mag I believe is best at 26” but more often than not with a production rifle it will be 24”. I use a can when possible/allowed so I shy away from anything longer than 24”.

3x Brno model 21 in 7x64, and if I can find a ZKK 601 with a pop up rear sight in 308w I will sell them and be good with the swap.
These are my opinions, feel free to disagree.

On my way to the woods this morning with a RAR in 300 blackout. Had to pass on a doe walking into my stand yesterday with it at 75 yards because she stopped at the top of the hill in line with the neighbors place. Hope to get the first one with it this morning.

My deer rifle is a CVA Cascade in 350 Legend. Thanks to the guys here always finding deals at Walmart, I found this one for $299 at Wally World. Thanks Campfire! I also have a Remington 700 Sps DM in 270 but that's my elk rifle now, if I ever go elk hunting. I'll probably never have a big long list of rifles for shooting deer or anything else. I had a .22/250 but I gave it to a young man who needed a rifle.

I killed deer with 270 and 30-06. They still haven't told me what they prefer to be shot with, probably because they're dead no matter what they get hit with. Zackley. Being socially critical about calibers that obviously work seems a little estrogen-driven, but whatever. I reload, but I like my hunting calibers to be available in box stores wherever I go. 300WM 30-06 .308 6.5CM

I've found 45-70 does a good job with any bullet weight and 243 with 105 grain bullets do well

Zip tie some split 1” heater hose around the rail. Yeah, I have been trying to get that done. I have some urethane hvac chiller wrap. Just been hunting our asses off. Get back to the house and there’s always some other crisis that erases my intentions of zipping back across the farm. I need to do that so I can bring out the foo foo rifle blue and walnut jobs.

More than likely it'll be my .280AI with 120 grain Nosler BT's if the cancer allows a bit of hunting time this year. Prayers for a Complete healing and remission, and many great hunts this season!
