its no different than the concept on what they are doing with the Creedmoor every one loves so much... is it?
Actually it is different. The Creedmoor is an answer to a "geometry problem", namely how to keep the ogive/shank transition of long VLD bullets out of the case neck while having the cartridge fit in the standard 2.8" magazine. It is not about velocity gains attributed to seating a slender bullet out farther when really it's higher pressure making the numbers happen.

240 Wby with a 1/8. I see no advantage to a 6/06. 6-06 gives you multiple options to āmakeā brass. The 240Wby is an island unto itself for me thatād be reason enough to bail on the 240. A good friend has a NULA in 240 (1:7) itās an absolute hammer w/110 A-Tips. But, it was a pain in the rump rounding up brass. Regarding the OPās original question. If youāre starting from scratch, thereās no way Iād go less than 1:7. Look @ where projectile R&D is going. Nobody is gonna be wishing for slower twists anytime soon.

Whole heartedly agree with your comment on 6-06 brass. Rounding up 240 brass, while definitely more expensive, isn't terribly difficult to do though....unless you don't have internet access. I've never had a problem finding brass for my 240.
