Have any of you noticed that his wife is quite well breasted ?
At the end of the broadcast they are standing together and he's talking while she makes facial gestures. Do you think he has his hand on her ass or am I the only one ?

They hold services in the building that used to be the home of the Houston Rockets. They spent about a hundred million dollars renovating the building into their church home. He’s pretty popular down there. They have about 6 services a week and average over 50,000 worshippers/attendees a week. I’ve tried to watch the guy, but he just doesn’t do it for me. Same with trying to read one of his books. It just ain’t there, for me. But he clearly does something good for many, many thousands of people on a regular basis. I’ve seen his house in the River Oaks section of Houston. It’s pretty flippin’ nice.

Too much feel-good-ism brand of Christianity, I don’t see him admonishing or exhorting people in their wicked, earthly ways too much. Just a bunch of happy jive type BS.
His dad was a pretty popular pastor down there for many years, but the church itself really skyrocketed after his father died and Joel took over the reins of the church.

Reportedly Victoria got pissed because there was a stain the size of a quarter on the armrest of her first-class seat, and she demanded that something be done about it immediately. Whatever ensued, she ended up being escorted off the plane (which was bound for Vail, Colorado) and paid a three thousand dollar fine for interfering with a flight crew member.

I watched John for many years. He was a real bible thumper and delivered a great message. Joel did not want to take the reins when john passed away. Joel was happy doing the media thing with the cameras and audio. Then his mom convinced him that it was his calling and when Joel first took the reins I wondered if it was going to work, fast forward to today and his ministry is going gang busters, but as mentioned above it is all feel good and no meat to his messages.

Do you ever watch Joel...? He seems to be more of a life coach to me. But even so, I just can’t get interested in anything he has to say. Over 50,000 attendees a week, and many more online and on TV clearly do...I’m just not one of em’.
I listened for years to Tony Evans, black preacher from Oakcliff in Texas. Guy was fired up all the time. My commercial-free station quit his broadcast a while back.

This. He does not preach from scripture. Not a bible based sermon. He is pretty much a prosperity preacher but well hidden.

I agree with this guy 100%. What portion of the church's take the preacher gets is debatable. But a preacher taking over $100k, living in a multiple million estate, Might just be out of line pressuring an old widow for 10% plus "Love" offerings out of her $800/month SS.

I don't care if a preacher is popular. It would be good to have a popular gospel preacher sharing the truth with so many. What I do want to know is this.... How does the preacher stand up to the Bible's requirements on this most important subject?
Ghandi was right... "I believe in the teachings of Christ, but you on the other side of the world do not, I read the Bible faithfully and see little in Christendom that those who profess faith pretend to see.
"The Christians above all others are seeking after wealth. Their aim is to be rich at the expense of their neighbors. They come among aliens to exploit them for their own good and cheat them to do so. Their prosperity is far more essential to them than the life, liberty, and happiness of others.

I don’t see a problem with him, or anybody else having a lotta money. Good for them, and more money to em’. The problem, according to Jesus, isn’t them having the money; the problem is the money having them. A dude on here recently said Christians were supposed to sell everything they had and give the money to the poor. He said it more than once. Jesus ‘did’ say that to the rich young ruler, ‘because’ money was his god, he loved his money more than he loved God. That’s why he was so sad when Jesus told him that. It was clear what was truly important to the rich young ruler. It was money, first and foremost, even over God.
Not an Osteen fan either, and not a fan of any of the prosperity gospel preacher types. FWIW, Osteen doesn't take a salary from his megachurch, he makes it on his books, podcasts, etc.
It is irrelevant what you think. What matters is the TRUTH.

The business model for many of these wretched detestables.
I remember they got a lot of heat when the hurricane hit houston and they were hesitant to open the doors of the church for folks who lost their house. I've watched his sermons a few times years ago, not for me. If he really makes all his money from his books and podcasts then good for him. But I tend to question if the megachurch type pastors are being very genuine or if it's just an act.
Something about it's easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Where does it say that? Who said it? I wonder if Osteen knows about that verse.
Don't blame me. I voted for Trump.

Perhaps Osteen would say that such things are impossible with man, but with God all things are possible?
The thing about those who fail to preach sin is they also inevitably fail to preach grace. The Gospel of our Lord Jesus is one of grace and pardon from a sin so serious that God had to die to redeem us.
That isn’t a Gospel that yields the sorts of book sales and net worth that Osteen is wed to and illustrates much about what our Lord was teaching in the quote mentioned above.
Of course if there is no hope for Osteen there can be done for me or anyone else because we’re all equally lost when God is made the comparison and not men. Praise God that grace is greater than anything Osteen has ever seen fit to preach.
The biggest problem I have with Osteen and the others is this "if you have enough faith, abundance and blessing is heading your way. It takes grace right out of the equation. The fact is, bad things happen to Christians and non-Christians alike.....or better yet "it rains on the just and the unjust". You never hear these guys preach that (the Truth).

Or any other truth that makes the congregation squirm. Those big city mega churches are one thing, but the rural folks have them too. Just to scale.
Big church, youth this, youth that, youth pastors, associate pastors, hindereds of members.
What they don't have is a preacher that hammers the word, And occasionally kicks then in the butt. They go to church, to go to church. See and be seen. There are churches with the solid type of preachers. For some reason, they have less attendance!

Him having money is not the problem. The problem is him bullshitting people into believing that they will be saved by giving it to him.

Slum nailed it. We discussed Osteen in our Sunday School class yesterday. He preaches what people want to hear, which in turn means they open up their wallets for him.

You also never hear him preaching about Jesus or the Holy Spirit. I can remember when his old man's church was next door to a tittie bar on Winkler. Think the old man was into saving souls instead of the broad way where Joel's headed.
About 15 years or so ago my wife and daughters and I were on a mini-vacation in Branson about a week before Christmas. We were on the Landing doing some shopping and went into Bass Pro Shops, just looking and hanging out. I turned the corner from one aisle into the next and there were Joel and his wife browsing some items. I had known Joel's older brother, Paul, about 20 years prior to that when we were on the same dorm wing my freshman year at ORU. So I figured what the heck, I'll go ahead and introduce myself to him. I did so and we chatted for a few minutes, small talk about fishing and families and stuff. He was real nice, just a regular guy. Anyway, our conversation ended and we went our ways. About an hour later my family and I went to a BBQ place in Branson for dinner. A few minutes after we got seated, in walks Joel and his wife. As they walked by us towards their seats, he gave me a wave and a smile. So I guess that was my "brush with fame," LOL!
Like some of the previous posters in this thread have mentioned, sometimes I wonder about the message he preaches, how it's sort of soft and feel-good. But also as some have said, he probably reaches people that may not have otherwise heard the gospel and they are ministered to. But I won't judge him as far as the money aspects and stuff as that's not my place, it's God's, and one day in eternity he will have to give account for his actions, as we all will.
“And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;”
This is why I never bother giving a second of my time to people like Osteen. I have no way of knowing him. I can know my own pastor, watch how he lives and interacts with people. On that I can build my case as to what he is. Not the case with someone I'll never meet.
The Bible also teaches not to be a stumbling block to others. His lavish lifestyle does exactly that.

Traditional Christian ‘religion’ is clearly a turnoff for millions of people in this country. It’s not that they don’t believe, it’s that what they’ve seen and experienced with it is so unattractive to them. They’re unaffiliated. I’ve never met anyone who walked away from it because of something that had anything to do with Jesus. I’ve met people who walked away from it for all kinds of reasons. But I’ve never met anyone who walked away from it because of something that had anything to do with Jesus. With over 50,000 weekly attendees, and many millions more who view online or on TV (and read his books), he’s clearly reaching a lotta people with his message. Outside of the theology of the prosperity gospel, if his message is doing them some good, and it’s making their lives better, and it’s motivating them to get cleaned up and go to work and become productive and take care of their families and become better people, etc...., then so be it. If someone chooses to go to a life coach, I’m OK with it.
It's a message that lots of people "want" to hear, but big numbers doesn't make his message right. Sunday Night Football gets big numbers as well.
”Sunday Night Football” likely doesn’t do people some good on the inside, and it likely doesn’t motivate them to make their lives better...and to get cleaned up and go to work and become productive and take care of their families and become better people, etc....

$90 mil of it might have had a higher purpose helping others and if you can't build a nice enough "House of Worship" for $10 mil, perhaps it's not a "House of Worship" but a measure of one's grandiosity.

I agree that they don’t get one into an eternity with God. But the above things most definitely makes one’s life ‘here’ better, and they also make one’s loved ones lives better too.

It does make one "better", but should be to glorify God, not self which is usually what happens.

$10 Million would buy a really nice house of worship and a big friggen family life center for sure.
I'm still of the opinion that $100 mil is an outrageous misuse of "offerings" for the Church.

I wonder if Jesus used a private donkey to do his Father's work?

I've mentioned it many times before relating to religious threads on this board. When people get involved, in anything, it becomes a convoluted, screwed up mess. It's a real turnoff for many that are actually seeking the Truth, and it's a sad reality. God judges the heart, and is the only One who can do so. Man cannot.
It is irrelevant what you think. What matters is the TRUTH.

It's true salvation comes before good works but good works keep a man where he is supposed to be.

We may know the time Ben Carson lied, but does anyone know the time Hillary Clinton told the truth?
Immersing oneself in progressive lieberalism is no different than bathing in the sewage of Hell.
I've mentioned it many times before relating to religious threads on this board. When people get involved, in anything, it becomes a convoluted, screwed up mess. It's a real turnoff for many that are actually seeking the Truth, and it's a sad reality. God judges the heart, and is the only One who can do so. Man cannot.
Yep. And no matter how much good a particular entity might do, they aren’t perfect, and there will still be many who find fault with them. If Jesus Himself showed up again teaching the same things He taught 2000 years ago, He’d be criticized by many (just like He was ‘then’). And much of the criticism would likely come from ‘religious’ people (just like it was ‘then’).
That Copeland video JeffP posted up there got me to thinking. Seems he needs a private plane to do the Lord's work.
I wonder if Jesus used a private donkey to do his Father's work?
That was Jesse Duplantis. His conversation with Copeland about needing a jet is priceless
And folks believe that.
Free country and free to believe what one wants to believe.
I guess if I was of the type where the Spirit moved me to jump up outa my seat and have a conversation with God, I'd need a private plane too.
The desert is a true treasure for him who seeks refuge from men and the evil of men. In it is contentment In it is death and all you seek (Quoted from "The Bleeding of the Stone" Ibrahim Al-Koni)

Gee, ya think?

Good works won't get you anywhere. I agree that they don’t get one into an eternity with God. But the above things most definitely makes one’s life ‘here’ better, and they also make one’s loved ones lives better too.
You know the problem. These folks think that if they do what Osteen says, they are eternally saved. Heaven forbid they read the Bible and test the teaching. I bet 90%+ of the congregation have never cracked a Bible.
Colossians 3:17 (New King James Version) "And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him."
