CAN'T YOU FIX THAT TITLE?

Emerial's place down in New Orleans.
It was darn good but i was glad i had a loan when the bill came.
Also the place had a jacket and tie rule but they had a rack that you could use.
Goat cheese salad was another first.

I find fine dining to be absolutely miserable. For some it is part of the job...

There was some swank place, Doctor Gauger took our Explorer Troop on the way to Phillmount Scour Camp. in New Mexico.
There was a waiter that filled gasses up when they got half empty.
I had Walleye, Doc had a Chef's salad, he ate light, and lost a lot of weight on the trip.
Thanks again Doc!!

Stoney’s Big Boy was known as Kips in Dallas when I was in my teens. Thought their Hot Fudge Sundae was the best thing my poor butt had ever seen!

Daniel NYC for my wife's 50th. It was the swankiest, but not the best. Several places in Zone G in Bogota near the Hilton. Damn fine food and really good Colombian beer, and with the exchange rate it was a great deal. I have been lucky to travel the world on somebody else's nickel.
Regards,
Kris

One of the fancier old school places in New Orleans, dining with my mother and her aunt. I was nine or ten and learned about the different forks, finger bowls and whatnot. Court of Two Sisters? Commanders Palace? Brennan’s? 45+ years ago, I don't remember which. Probably one of those if 45 years ago. Went to August a few weeks ago down there. Fantastic meal. There used to be a small French restaurant near the quarter, fancy as all get out, hard to get into. It no longer exists. Wish I could remember the name. Closed down 8 or 10 years ago.

I don't know about that. If the ox is good, I can polish off a plate or two even if we all hate each other. So long as everyone isn't stabbing each other, I'll take the ox.

My post means, it's not about the food, it is love that matters.

Forgot about Galatoires or Gabrielle's. Both of those in the running. The tie mandate largely gone now. But the jacket mandate remains. No shame in using a common coat with bourbon, turtle soup and cigar smoke staining it.

August in New Orleans. I felt like a turd in a punchbowl in there. My son was dating a girl who worked there and they wanted to take me some place special. I remember we had an appetizer called foie gras three ways. Actually I loved the place and the food and service was excellent. https://www.restaurantaugust.com/Just for contrast, the next day we went to get a poboy at the Parkway Bakery & Tavern. https://parkwaypoorboys.com/ More my style. That same son is getting married (different girl) in June and I have a feeling we will out-do August for the reception dinner.

President Hotel, Kowloon early 1969.
First evening we did not know the extent of their buffet. As we were leaving, we realized we had only made it through the salad bar. Conditioned for a couple days and came back to get into the main courses. First and only time I ever saw a whole 300 lb tuna as the center piece.
