Costco unscented laundry soap.
Same here. My wife sorts her stuff into about 6 different piles for some reason, and runs 6 loads. She nags at me because I don't sort my clothes. Bullshite. Yes I do. Dirty clothes go in the washer, stuff that's not that dirty yet goes in another pile so it can be worn again until it's dirty enough to be warshed. It ain't rocket surgery.

I wash my clothes, she does hers.
I just chunk it all in with some soap on regular cycle and hit go.
Use about half the recommended amount of soap.
Works for me.

I use All free & clear laundry pacs from Sam's club, cheap and cleans well. Use one if it's a normal load, two if it's really dirty or a big load.
I don't overthink it too much, just toss one in and press go.

I wash my clothes, she does hers. Same. I have had to do my own since I popped off to my mother about a certain pair of jeans not being washed when I returned from camp one summer. 16 years old. Mom had me march to the laundry room and I got a crash course in laundry. Actually prefer my method on my clothes as opposed to my wifes method. With her if it will fit in the tub it goes, doesn't matter if its crammed or not.

I use your method. Water fill. Agitate and add soap . A little goes a long way when I use the non scented kind like biopak. Right now I'm using up an old store of shampoo dad got on sale twenty years ago. It works too. Twice what I use for hair will clean a big load. Using more just means that it might not all rinse out as well. If the load is heavily soiled, then I soak it overnight and start the load at daybreak. Normal cycle is ok for socks, but too rough on some clothes. It'll stretch cotton and sometimes tear up so delicate cycle or just run manually for a short time on regular.
Spin hard twice, then hang out to dry. Shake and fold/ hang in closet. For the life of me I can't figure out why you don't have a woman to do your laundry. Would it be because you are a pretentious preachy bore? You can respond; I know you peeked.

Soap goes in (powder, liquid, pod, I don’t care, whatever she bought). Water turned on. Clothes go in. Cycle completes. Clothes go to dryer. Kids fold and put away. No special waiting period or decoder ring necessary. Colors. Whites. Towels. Silks. Wool. All the same. If it is so special it needs its own wash procedure, she better keep it out of the laundry room, because I don’t have time for 37 special steps.
Same goes for her “special” dishes and personalized cups. Better wash them after you use them, otherwise they’re going in the dishwasher. On heavy pot wash and high dry.
