I have this one as well.

Surprising how accurate it is given its simplicity.

I use my neighbor's brass doorknob across the street. He has a burgundy door that makes the doorknob nice and visible. I set my rifle in my Tipton gun rest on the dining room table, pull the bolt and line up the bore with the doorknob. Then adjust the reticle to the doorknob. Re-check the bore, adjust the reticle one more time and it's done. You're ready to go fire live rounds. I've never failed to be on paper at 100 yds after doing that.[/quote]

That's almost exactly what my dad taught me to do 50+ years ago. Doorknobs work great!

Thank you gentlemen,
I have sighted in many rifles and have full understanding of how to do it, Sako had it pegged as I want to check zero after travel and also after several years of sitting in a safe or a slip & bang during the season. For me knowing is confidence, and if it will save time at the range that’s a bonus.
I do appreciate the knowledge.

Leupold Zero Point is great, mine quit working, chip went bad, drilled a hole and glued a light on it, back in business.

Somebody needs to buy the patent and start making them again.

I always use the look thru the bore method. Sighted in a 788 rem my in 7-08 this week in 3 shots after bore sighting it. Some of my friends have been amazed at how close I can usaully get them. Lots of practice. I like a 3” dot at 50 yards and adjust as close as I can. Then I go to the edge of the target. Use the edge to split the bore right down the middle and adjust again. Then split the height the same way. You can get It really close.
