My dogs are just recovering from sniffles/sneezing. Month long wait to get into vets unless it is "life threatening" - how is one to know unless checked? Probably Covid- everything else is, .... everything else is catching it, looks like. Damn you unvaxxed!

Deer herds have been suspected in a bunch of diseases already.
Do you remember an outbreak of E.Coli in apple juice back in the mid-90's? They thought it was coming from a convergence of several factors.
1) The deer herd had grown dramatically due to farming.
2) The deer were attracted to the apple orchards
3) They were munching on apples
4) The migrant workers were dumping in the orchards
5) The feces were infecting the deer
6) The deer would dump in the orchards
7) The migrants would drop an apple or two on the ground and then put it back in the basket
The E.Coli from the deer mixed with the E.Coli in the migrants and you finally came up with a strain that could exist in both guts. In deer, it was fairly benign. In humans, it was devastating.

Why would Penn State be doing a study on Iowa deer and covid?
They sure as hell don't have to go to Iowa to find deer.
And i'd guess that Iowa has people smart enough to study their own deer.
Parents who say they have good kids..Usually don't!

Our deer at the lease in Alabama seem to be doing ok. The study indicated the deer don't get sick with obvious symptoms, but can carry the virus. A similar example (my own analogy) would be bats and rabies. Bats can carry rabies without being sick. I want to know who’s out in the woods running down deer and sticking a swab up their nose to test them for COVID. They test roadkill and deer harvested by hunters, etc. Why would Penn State be doing a study on Iowa deer and covid?

If the virus has the ability to spread into *wild* deer herds, which avoid human contact, then it has spread much broader in the human population. Meaning the number of asymptomatic cases must be higher than reported.

Northeastern Illinois /southern Wisconsin is much, much closer to Pennsylvania and is a significant cervid covid hot spot, but then that area just happens to be a democrat stronghold ... ...Or... maybe there's another reason behind why they went with the cervid covid "hot spot" in Iowa?
