Ukraine and Central Asian former Soviet Republics can NOT be allowed to join NATO. It will take 5 minutes or less for missiles from Ukraine to hit major cities in European Russia. There will be no war because Americans already stated that if Russia moves against Ukraine there will be substantial sanctions against the Russian Federation. If China were to move against Taiwan it is possible Russians would move against Ukrainians. Americans can afford to leave former Eastern European countries under sphere of Russian influence. What Americans can not afford is for China to expand in Asian. Loos of Taiwan will mean loss of Japan, South Korea and possibly Australia. As I said previously Americans are too weak to focus on anything else beside Mainland China. This is most formidable enemy Americans have faced since the British in the War of Independence. This is the reason for sudden exit from Afghanistan attempt to improve relations with Iran and handing over more and more control of Europe to the Germans.
