The one I'm dealing with will take up to 50% of the cost of the car. Pay 50% down a few weeks ahead on the cc, then pay it off with the cc at closing. As you noted, not all dealers will, but some, like mine, have ways. RB

It's no sin to be poor, but it's damn inconvenient.

If a $1000 will fix it, it ain't really an emergency. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tell me that again after lightning fries your water pump or your fridge/freezer conks out. Thatโs home maintenance; not an emergency. Happens all the time. Be prepared for it. Yeah, be prepared for lightning strikes and any other natural disasters that might arise. Such things are not emergencies. LOL Iโm just telling you what I do. I drive what I can pay for. I live in what I can pay for. When it breaks, I fix or replace it. It isnโt a big deal if you arenโt making payments. I'd be willing to bet that the vast majority of people would consider those things emergencies. . Probably so. I donโt know. Are you in the โvast majorityโ? If so, you are a dumbass Except for homes, I've paid cash for everything I've ever owned in my life, including every vehicle and I've never had a credit card.. I could write a check for many times that amount right now and it wouldn't bounce and I'm completely debt free..

I just covered a $2800 unexpected expense, my sister texted me last week after her car was repossessed. She could have let me know beforehand! She tried everything she could think of and was waiting for an emergency hardship 401K disbursement but she ran out of time.
I covered it for her. She had a bad bad case of covid last year. She works hard, she is widowed, her daughter lives with her and shares expenses. She gave what she had last year to her step-son who is a Afghanistan vet with PTSD, he was about to lose his work truck and tools. Then when she needed it for herself of course he couldn't pay her back. She can't ever seem to get ahead. I assume she will pay me when she gets that hardship disbursement!

I'm all about debt free, don't get me wrong, but not having a credit card? How did you function as a gunsmith? Buying parts online you made your customers wait until your snail mail check arrived and cleared with your vendors? Plus, I put a ton on the credit card, my purchases are protected, and I get cash back. Just don't carry a balance and you don't pay interest.

No problem getting that Starbucks or driving a new car all the time though. Or a new tattoo, or vape pen, or the latest video game system, or take out food every night.
