The problem however is they changed the federal requirements on how much electricity motors should use so the makers moved to having 1 or 2 motors, to 3-5 motors that break down because they are much lighter duty.

Yes. With smart ass motherboards installed in everything from a fridge to natural gas cooktop stove, there's little chance of getting one serviced when the chips outdate in six months.

The company I work for is a tier one parts supplier to Whirlpool in Clyde Ohio

I get everything at cost straight from the factory shipped directly to my house so there isn't a thing in my house that's no Whirlpool

Can't help with the best make,we gave up on them years ago because they did not last long with this water we have.


On the other hand i guess i have had the same dishwasher for 43 years and so far she has not gave me a minute of trouble.

I have the current model. Not much has changed. I’m looking into the Bosch.

Bosch here also. Very quiet and works great.

Friend of mine has a Miele (I think it at least)... about 35-40 years old and never a hick-up.

Our Bosch is a decade old. It's been a good one. Will probably crap out tomorrow.

We had a Maytag from 2004 untill about 6 years ago.
Wasn't happy. Had issues, including not getting dishes clean.
It died, neighbor gave us a newer Kenmore. It was better, but still
we got dirty dishes occasionally. The bottom seal leaked. Found that out
when water came through the basement ceiling.

Fall 2020, I wanted to check out Miele.
Nearest dealer is 3 mountains and about 60 miles away, called them.
None in stock. That's a lot of money to order something I've never seen
They couldn't even get one in until April.

Hit the box stores in the big towns, no Bosch. Only cheap anything.
(Cheap Bosch probably is not worth the money)

Went shopping in town, 5 miles from home.
Talked to the old man who is second generation in the business.
They are known as the GE dealer, used to deal in Hobart (Kitchen Aid when
They were top shelf) still is a Speed Queen dealer.
He doesn't sell Bosch, told us where to go to maybe find one.
I ask what he had. He was really high on LG. And claims he gets their
parts as well as anyone. At that time. (They are also a repair facility)


So, we just bought LG.
Have had it over a year, and we love it.
We don't rinse, my wife barely scrapes. Casseroles, things you wouldn't
think you had a chance of getting clean, come out spotless.
The filter is no big deal, there is rarely ever anything in it.

The one complaint. It is of the stainless tub, no heating element design.
Plastic stuff doesn't dry real well. You often have to wipe it with a towel.
No big deal, just a swipe. But it's a negative.


Time will tell how it hold up. I'm still worried by that.

But, in this amount of time the Maytag had broken basket wheels.
And that continued until I fashioned new axels from copper. It also broke
A door latch under warranty, and a couple out of warranty.

Bosch or Thermador, same company and for the most part same dishwashers.

I had the older model, never was worth a crap!

GE. Bought it about 6 mo ago. SS tub, steam option, heated & vented drying - important if you like dry dishes. Food disposal in it - also important if you want clean dishes unless you prewash everything first. Kinda defeats the purpose. It’s the super quiet model, can’t hear it unless you are standing in front of it. We had an LG before. Should have replaced that POS sooner and it wasn’t that old.

We have what's supposed to be a top-of-the-line LG. True, it's quiet unlike the previous KitchenAid but it's nothing but junk. Seems like once a week the touch controls freeze up and the only way to "solve" the issue is to power cycle the breaker at the panel. LG Tech Support was zero help. NEVER again LG.
