I live in a commie state. I’m getting older and I have thought about retiring to a red state.

With that, I think there are better places than where I am politically for sure. When you think about the outdoors and the things that you want to do when you retire, the weather here rules.

Unfortunately, I think that anywhere you go in the United States that you think is a escape route probably has the same problems as where you are currently living. Especially if you’re trying to have conveniences of a city. Homeless people, crime etc.

I think maybe you need to stay where you are but get out of the city into a much smaller community to minimize contacts with socialist [bleep].

Seriously. The United States of America is very close to being over.

Have an escape plan

I tried to get the wife to bite on moving to Wy. I took her there in the winter, so she would understand what the conditions are like.

Wind was pretty bad all 3 days. Fair amount of snow as well. It was the wind that she couldn’t overcome.

Me, I’d live in Wyoming in a half a second.

Well, I see the problem there. You should have taken her on the three days that the wind doesn't blow in Wyoming.

The wife was actually doing ok (at least in my mind) Casper was nice. The people were like I’ve come to know anywhere that haven’t been exposed to large doses of Liberals - friendly, giving honest answers to any of our questions. Maybe, too honest.

We were having lunch just outside of Casper, in a relatively newly built out community. Our female waiter was from Wy. She had moved away for 20 years, only to recently move back with husband #2. She tells my wife she hates being back because of the winters and wind. Said she now feels stuck. Oh, shít ! Face palm knowing the damage that waitress caused in minutes to my dream.

I’m watching my wife taking it all in as her internal scale of Love - Hate was dipping fast into the hate category. I knew it was over.

My only fleeting hope was that the house and property we had just looked at, maybe it had her hooked deep enough. $1.7 mil for a beautiful house with 140 acres of shooting bliss that touched the base of a mountain.

I was forked. Game over !

I’ve lived almost half my life on the Oregon Coast. I can’t get any farther away from the City of Portland, unless I swim in the surf.

Two years after my Wyoming dream got crushed. I found a house and property that is 45 minutes from the city, but it’s out in farm, Ag land.

I’m more isolated from people than I am at the Coast. I have 4 neighbors. We all have between 40-60 acres separating us. I’m behind two gates and a half mile from a two lane paved road.

If you’re coming to my place, I either know about it, or someone is looking at me holding a firearm.

You can find a sanctuary for yourself, away from the people who you chose to not live amongst. Just takes time finding it. Start looking.

Yep,

for Californios it's the Modoc or most anywhere East of the Sierras.

Bro, I hear you...It was a cool property. Even with a few neighbors, it was still center fire Mecca!

I’m likely going back this year for a mule deer hunt outta Gillette.

Wyoming, for me, is that dream that got away. Damn being married.

I'd go back and tell that waitress she's fat.

All joking aside Casper and Gillette are not exactly the best weather in the State or the easiest places for a wife to accept.

Think Cody or Sheridan if you want the wife on board. That's as good as it's gets.

Cody has lots of public ground and Sheridan is a bit greener.

I know and I hope you’re right.

I’m thinking they might find me 30 years from now in a cave like they found Jap soldiers on Guam still thinking WW2 was going

I heard that. Unfortunately, the information came a little late for me.

Gillette is only a hunting destination for me. I only know one dumb-ass who lived there. He just got hitched to be married and moved to Casper.

Hope he see’s this, too. Hey, Cinch if you read this.... I’m coming to kill p-dogs early summer. Make my room up and make sure I get a big spoon. John, isn’t much about sharing his good silverware.

We've visited Cody twice in the last few years either in July or August. Wonderful spot. Not sure about the winter though but it sure is nice in the summer and everyone has been warm and welcoming.

Her actions have you posting about it on a hunting/shooting site. There is no reason your actions shouldn't have her posting on jennycraig.com LOL
