Not sure of your financial situation, but when I was looking towards Wyoming a few years back, land of any quantity was expensive beyond my wildest imagination.

Texas could be the most disappointing state you ever go to. After you hear all the great comments by Texans about their state, you can drive thousands of miles looking for it, and never find it.

Unfortunately, I think that anywhere you go in the United States that you think is a escape route probably has the same problems as where you are currently living. Especially if you’re trying to have conveniences of a city. Homeless people, crime etc.

I think maybe you need to stay where you are but get out of the city into a much smaller community to minimize contacts with socialist [bleep].

Seriously. The United States of America is very close to being over.

Have an escape plan

Ain't no escape, Rick.

This USA is the last stand.

I reckon we got a better than even chance of righting the ship.

I know and I hope you’re right.

I’m thinking they might find me 30 years from now in a cave like they found Jap soldiers on Guam still thinking WW2 was going

You will have to come out of the cave at least once a year for the Hatch crop.

Move to WV...

Right friendly folks...

On a serious note, New Mexico, if not run by democrats, would be pretty awesome.

Some here may remember eh76, who has been in WY for decades and loves it. Communicate with him frequently and many of the conversations include reports of high wind and rapidly changing temps.

People in NM are used to the government tit and arent likely to spit it out any time soon.
Espanola ... is the first stop for cheap smack and coca headed north from Sinoloa, and aint anywhere near to being a happy place.
Their crime stats and overdose rate would make you think the place was the size of Dallas.
Its so bad there even the Detox and Rehab places are corrupt.
NM is textbook as to what happens when democrats hold sway for more than a few decades.

That being said, its one of the prettiest places Ive been to and the weather doesnt suck even considering the altitude in the northern part of the state.

And THAT, sir, is the major problem!
And y'all think CO is blue? They took lessons from NM.

And a national article, back in the early '70's IIRC, called our town "Smack City, USA"
Ain't gotten any better.
Last year, they busted a dozen or more of the Syndicato bunch for dealing, murders, etc.
Some of our prominent locals (sarcasm).

This in a town of ~ 12K. I've lived in Las Vegas and Espanola - not much difference between them, other than size.

I think that's pretty right. 1) No matter what you're running from, it will find you. 2) If we don't
right this ship (USA) nowhere we might run will be safe. Bad as things are, right here is the last
best hope for humanity.

Me thinks that all those 'name' states have been ruined, or are in the process of being ruined, by out of state paranoids (and liberals) moving in. And before this trend started, rural meth was already changing the landscape.

Nope, there is no hidden utopia in the USA. Some of you should consider staying in your chosen spot and doing your best to ignore the govt. Thats what I do as I cannot live without an ocean. Who is saying that Texas might not go blue in 6 years? There was a time when Colorado was a Wyoming and now look at it!

Just FYI - the least windy town in Wyoming is Lander.

one time i left laramie close to dark headed west in a 72 chevy 4wd, some how missed the freeway, then found it again, drove all night at 30 mph , kept thinking why isnt any one on the freeway, about daylight i was somewhere around rock springs when i ran into the arms closing the hwy down, got a stearn lecture from a trooper about stupidity,,,, from there to evanston i seen some of the biggest mule deer along the hwy, 35 years ago so some details may have been forgotten ,,, i do remember sliding backwards down the hwy into evanston though,,,,35in mud tires and ice in a short bed 4wd, fun times,,,,,
