What I've been thinking about today is that evolving US Russia policy seems squarely aimed at reducing Russia to a rogue state. This and the accompanying Wester cancel coalition abandoning Russia (Coca-Cola, Mcdonald's, Ford, VISA, Mastercard, Amex, IKEA, etc., etc...) seems poised to drop Russia back in 1958. Their energy and mineral resources will continue to be exported, but not through western markets. Aside from Oil and Nat Gas, China will have practically exclusive access to Russia's lithium, nickel, and palladium, which are essential to the technologies intended to power the green revolution.
The West's response to Russia's incursion in Ukraine disproportionately benefits China and not by a little.
Russia has COAL too, and the china man will continue to use coal to fuel powerplants, despite china saying the right things at the climate conferences.

Today, Biden blamed Putin for high gas prices.
The national average for gasoline in the US was $3.72 before Putin went into Ukraine.
Domestic consumption should still be way down. compared to pre pandemic levels. The majority of people who can work from home are still working from home, air travel, including business travel are at a fraction of pre-pandemic rates. Freight and delivery services are up, but still overall oil consumption should be down considerably.
