The old lady next door ran out of her house yelling at me as I working in the garden. I thought her old man had keeled over dead, but it was Elvis. Scared me half to death.

At work at our local gun shop. Owner was a monster Elvis fan. His wife called me there and asked me to break the news to him before he saw it on the news.

He was crushed and cried like a baby.

This is my mom and Elvis in Germany.

[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]

My dad was a company commander on the same post where Elvis was stationed. My dad was friends with Elvis's CO. Dad said that while Elvis was there, Elvis was a very well regarded soldier. He did his job. He didn't live off his fame. He lived off his soldier's pay. He borrowed money to get by like other soldiers. And when he left to go into a special services unit, he went around and paid everyone to whom he owed money. Only later did he get some privileges and live off post in a rented house.

My mom asked Elvis if he would come to her officers wives club. Mom said he said, "Well ma'am, I can't do that. If I did that for your club I would have to do it for all the others." I can imagine him saying that in his Elvis voice.

BTW, when I was younger, my mom sent her original photo out for copies. The copies came back but someone stole the original.

Mom was a huge fan so heard it around the house.
His music and his contribution to music hasn’t aged well. No real redeeming value to him or his music that I can see.

😁😅😅🤣🤣🤣🙄

I used to sing my rendition of the chorus to Kentucky Rain to my wife when I was in the shower. She'd yell at me to shut the puck up, I'm scaring the kids... 😁

I got a ticket from the sob a few years ago in Frost Texas for “exhibition of acceleration “ but the judge threw it out because he miss spelled both words. After that things went down hill for the old boy. A jealous husband caught him in bed with his wife and dam near killed him. Put him in the hospital. Heard he retired.

I was 17 working in a grocery store after school. When I got to work that day, all the old lady cashiers were crying. Asked them what happened, they said “the King was dead”

My Mom was a huge Elvis fan. The year before, in 1976, I took Mom to see Elvis perform at our local coliseum for her 37th Birthday. Hell of show! Of course, he was fat Elvis at that point. Just one year before he died. Mom had also seen him perform at that same City Coliseum when she was in High School in 1957.
She said he drove his pink Cadillac to that first Concert she saw him at in 57.
