An old plumber told when I was an apprentice you always say “ Adios all you mutherfuggers “ when you leave a job. I always did after that, all 4 time I left jobs. I quit the first three, retired from the last. The last time was the best.

To those that are retired, what is your exepnses ? Is your spouse retired too. I ask cause I am 59 1/2 now and my dividend income is only a little over $20,000 in my Fidelity retirement portfolio. I will , or should have another $8,500 from my carpenters union , and in 2 1/2 yrs I will get S.S. and that should be about 17,000 ? per yr. This leaves me with $45, 000 per yr. My wife will likely work till she is 63? and then hang it up. Is $45,000 per yr. enough for you ? My wife is only 57 but she needs to wait till 65 for S.S. I am not sure how we will ever make ends meet.

Thanks for all the advise. I dont have any debt and own my own house . I have a few 7 ac. properties with river frontage I could sell for about 100K each if I had to. The properties should hold their value real well cause of location and it's river frontage. One is very good , deep frontage and the other is just ok river frontage. One is 45 mi. west of Green Bay, Wis. One is in NW Wisconsin . I sometimes wish to sell both and move . I told my wife I am moving to Upper Michigan. She said she will miss me.

Ihookem,
You should talk with a financial guy. Our Credit Union has one that's free. You might find one as part of your banking or as part of your job (HR Dept).
He is going to have tools that allow you to check what your expenses and income will be. Not that you can't do it yourself, but it's nice to have someone objective to help you out.
We have most of our money with Ameriprise. He's done an outstanding job at managing things and getting us set up. This of course costs us, and we COULD do it ourselves. But I know, even with his ~1% commission he's done better than I could have done. I have a problem knowing when to get out of an investment.
Anyway look for some professional advice is, er..., my advise.

I had 3 of them and they were so bad I lost money on all 3 in the biggest bull run in history. If you get a good one you are ok. By the time you find out they suck they have a LOT of your money and its too late.

Signed papers on the sale of our house yesterday. Full price offer with closing on Tuesday.
Trailer and pickup loaded for a quick trip down to the place we're renting while the new house is being built.
Getting closer.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I retired in March at 49, best thing I’ve ever done work wise. Enjoy your retirement!
Will Munny: It's a hell of a thing, killing a man. Take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have.
The Schofield Kid: Yeah, well, I guess they had it coming.
Will Munny: We all got it coming, kid.
