Considering a Ruger American Predator .308 with an 18" threaded barrel specifically for deer/pig hunting where ranges will likely not exceed 200 yards.

This will not be a bench or bipod deal and handiness is a primary goal.

What would be a good choice for a direct screw-on can?

I've got way too many cans and IMO Tbac ultra 7 is what you want on a hunting bolt gun. The 1.7" diameter cans are a pinch quieter (nomad, dominus, etc) but you'll see them in the scope which drives me nuts. Avoid heavy "full auto rated" stuff as they'll kill your balance on a hunting rifle.

Yeah, I'm not looking for a spec ops can. Quiet is good. Light is good.

What’s your budget? There’s some $500-700 options these days that are lighter than options from 3-4 years ago.

Ive got a CGS Hyperion waiting for approval.

When i bought it I’d narrowed it down to 3.

TBAC ultra 9, dead air Nomad LT, and the Hyperion.

The dead air is actually a KGM made can.

The TBAC guy says the Hyperion is a quieter can, so i went with it.

Bauer precision was runnning a 10% sale, and had it in stock.

I shoot it on a 6.5 cm and 6.5 prc.

No budget, really, but I expect to pay more than the $599 MSRP of the rifle.

The SilencerCo Harvester Evo is a great option for what you are looking for. As is the Dead Air Nomad.

I’ve also got a Hyperion waiting for the paperwork. I shot my buddy’s on a 6.5creed, 25-06 and 300PRC next to my other buddy’s suppressor ( can’t remember the model, but 5-6 years ago it was “top of the line”) and the Hyperion was waaay easier on the ears. We shot it out of my garage and it was very quiet.

^This. I don't even know how many I own now. They are very light, very accurate, the machining is so consistent you can juggle different cans and mounts and not get a POI shift.

I have one Dominus, it's nice, though kind of fat and ugly. A 7" Ultra is what you want.

There's two ways to go here-

1.) Get the quietest possible can and sit around and ooh and ahh over how it sounds.

2.) Get something that doesn't suck to use.

On a bench gun, those might be the same thing, but on a field rifle something like the 13" Hyperion is of little interest to me.

I want the smallest lightest can that I can safely use for 1-3 shots in a hunting scenario without hearing damage. I'm fine running ear pro at the range, as that's usually a necessity due to others or supersonic crack anyhow.

For reference I have the Nomad L which is essentially tied with the Hyperion decibel-wise depending on which day it was tested.

Yeah, it's quiet but I still wear light hearing protection just for the bullet crack when I'm shooting groups. It balances fine on a 16" rem varmint in a krg bravo but that's a 12-13 pound rig with bipod and dmr 3-21.

On a Sporter rifle you want the ultra 7 if not the ultra 5. AB suppressors has some cool reflex designs that are light weight titanium cans. I want their 4 baffle model for a shorty 22 creed Montana.

If I could only have 2 cans for rifles I'd have an oss for all my gas guns and a tbac ultra 7 for the bolt actions. That's after spending a couple grand on tax stamps alone.

I only have one suppressor for centerfire right now and it's the Silencer Co Omega 300. I like it alot, it does everything I need a suppressor to do. It does add about 1 lb of weight to the barrel, but I've lost that much chopping barrels down on some of the rifles to keep my barrel and suppressor length under 26".

Also I never see my suppressor in my scope. Most of my hunting scopes start around 2.5X to 3.5X and I never see the suppressor on the low end. I do see it in my red dot on my .300 Blk AR, but it disappears as soon as I use the 3X magnifier for longer shots.

I do think the TBAC suppressor are probably some of the best you can buy if not the best from research I did prior to my purchase. I actually wanted a YHM Resonator when I made my first purchase, but got a good price on the Omega and it was on my list of options. I got my Omega 300 and a Sparrow for about $200 more than I could purchase an Ultra 7 for at that time.

I have a Rugged Razor 7.62 that I use on my .308, two different .243's, and on an AR-15 in .223 (with the .223 endcap).

I have a Dead Air Nomad L it is direct thread 8.4". No Barrel length restrictions. It is heavy compared to some but it is quiet. I've used it on 6.5G 12" to 20", 6.5CM 20", .308 18"-20", 556 10"-18" with no issues at all. I am to the point my non threaded rifles don't get to come out and play anymore. While you are waiting on your stamp to be approved you may as well get a .22LR can as well.

Got one. Silencerco Sparrow on a CZ 455 threaded barrel. With RWS subsonic HP, it is spooky accurate and quiet.

Looks like Thunderbeast is having trouble keeping up with demand. All out of stock at Silencer Shop.

That's been a pretty consistent issue with TBAC. Great product though.

Guy beyond counter told me TBAC was having cans made by KGM.

Dead cans are made by KGM. . Serial number is KGM-xxxx
