I know... have lived here 28 years now....have shot a couple over 225 pounds on the hoof and have seen a few ones bigger than that... but most are in the 90 to 120 pound ranges....

have shot a bunch in the 150 to 180 pound ranges. Not as many around, as when I moved here from the midwest in 1995, but there are still quite a few, so its not hard hunting...

Most of the ones I've shot have been taken in a cartridge that was loaded with 30 grains of 4198 or RL 7. from 243 to 30/06. from ranges out to 250 and 300 yds...

done a lot of loading for kids in Boy Scouts, or let them load them, with me supervising and dad attending...

They've done pretty darn well, because the loads are very shootable and yet are very lethal due to the low recoil making bullet placement very easily....

pretty much what the 6 x 45 is all about.

I have got no shortage of bullets for this caliber....got a couple boxes of the discontinued 100 grain Hornady RN... and 5 or 6 boxes of the Sierra 100 gr SMP... a bullet I really like. If I could shoot 20 deer this year, ( in places like Alabama where that is legal ) I could take down deer and not use the same type of bullet twice...

There are few bad choices at all for this cartridge.. and at the range most deer are taken ( 100 yds and under ) it is head and shoulders over a 223. and with a bolt action, my only regret is not looking closely at this cartridge 30 years ago...

If I had had to serve in combat with the AR, I'd have felt a lot more comfortable with it chambered in a 6 x 45, with 100 to 105 grain bullets and a little longer magazine in cartridge length.

Hell I have plenty of deer migrating thru the property daily.. why would it be that I'd never point a rifle at one?

and I don't clean bed pans Stumpy....hell in my life, I've scrubbed into well over a couple thousand, heart cases at teaching hospitals all over the country.. vs you're bragging of how well you can run a friggin chain saw....

but being in the medical world, I understand mental deficiencies, dealing with it in demented patients, alcohol and drug fueled. I can easily let them have their fantasies in life.. as it doesn't effect me.. I'm not in competition with their delusions.. don't have to be...I can be self employed.... You? you have to work for someone else.. you and your chain saw..

but does that really matter in the big picture? I didn't start out life or even think about living a lifestyle like you chose.

And we all know how wonderful the .22 PPC feeds from most magazines. The problem with .224 caliber is that the only decent bullet is the 53 grain Vmax, and that's a varmint bullet. All the other .224 bullets either have poor b.c.'s or inconsistent terminal performance. That's why 6mm is better. And you didn't shoot out any spout, Little Liar Larry, you simply put on a new barrel before the old one was even 25% used.
