The model 58 intrigues me for its potential and simplicity.

Curious if anyone shoots one.

I have 2 M-57s the M-58 is the fixed sight model, very good serviceable revolver

Also have 2 57's. No 58. Curious how they shoot with the notced frame sighting.

I just had my third custom model 58 done a few months ago. I love them as base guns for custom projects. This last one received Bowen’s fixed combat sights, a round butt grip frame and a rebored model 520 barrel.

I have a 4 inch 58, my first 41 mag. Shooting 200 gr Speer jhp or 210 jsp, getting great groups at same point of aim. Aim point is center hold or combat hold. Shooting Colorado Cast 210 gr a 6 o'clock hold is on the money. I didn't get a 57 for several years, so the 58 gets used more. It's like my old Smith model 10 hb on steroids.

Introduced in 1964. A 4” barreled K frame.41 magnum with fixed sights designed to replace the 4 and 5” .38 special revolvers carried by 90% of the nations Law Enforcement. Remington released a 210 grain all lead flat point round that was supposed to give 1000 fps from the 58. A Sgt. at Columbus Ohio P. D. Wrote a proposal to replace CPD’s model 10 .38s with the 58. It made it all the way up the chain of command until the then city council saw the word “Magnum”. They shot it down. I wish I had one. They are pretty pricey if you can find one these days.

As far as I know all Model 58s are N Frame guns rather than K frame sized. As far as customizing them goes I guess each is entitled to their own opinion on who they want to use their money🤣

It has an N-Frame, not a K-Frame.

Lucky me, I finally found mine about 3 weeks ago. It's an early S-model that shipped in Jan. '66. Just about as good as it gets for a combat revolver, IMO.

I’ve got a 57. Great gun. I wish they’d make a 41 Mag version of the Model 69.

Very nice, indeed. I've had only two opportunities to acquire one in the last 30 years or so. Both times I just couldn't justify the expense, as cool as they are.

For cops, the intention was a special downloaded .41 Magnum round, which is generally not available on the commercial market. It would have been like a .41 Special, and likely would have had recoil about like a .44 Special from a revolver of the same weight.

I have an S prefix Model 57 in nickel, but I like your 58 much better.

Same here; they've always been a rare find and out of my price range. This one was owned by a local retired cop, and while it wasn't exactly "cheap" it was much cheaper than you'll normally find one, especially an S-serial. I'm on the hunt for a pair of diamond PC Magnas, now.



Thank you. While I own exactly one nickel gun and really enjoy it (a model 57-0), it's a finish that I normally shy away from.
