I've been looking at two rifles. One a Sako 85 in 308 and the Remington Ti in 308. My question, is the quality controll better with the Sako? What I really want to know is one better than the other? I know thats a loaded question but I need some feed back before droping all that money.

It's all personal preference, Some consider the Sako to be a higher quality rifle ,while others love the Remington Ti

Are you talking about the "new" Rem AWR or original TI?

I own two Remingtons, 700 BDL 25.06 Varmint, and Sendero 300 WM. Everything considered, not very impressed.

Next rifle, if there's one at all, will be either a Sako A7 or a Tikka T3.

Price difference is not the question. I beleive the Ti is a little more expensive.

fwiw, I have two Sako 85's (one in .308, another in .25-06). Both were mechanically and cosmetically perfect out of the box (and I am a very picky about details).

Both shot < 1" with factory federal accubonds.

No experience with the Ti, but you'll have to look pretty hard to find somebody complaining about a Sako (other than price).

Not really - the Sako haters will be along soon enough.

And Swampman700, too..

Remington or Sako....

They both SUCK!

Seriously though, my $350 ADL will shoot just as good as my Sako's. That's really about the only thing they have in common though. Well that and the tupperware stocks.....(grin)
I love the Sako action/trigger!

I have some very accurate Remington's including a 270 Ti.Sako`s trigger is easier to tune and has a lot of machining in the action, but is usually heavier all over.My guess is to decide by holding them to see what feels best to you.

I used to like the Remingtons a lot but have switched to Sako. I have two 85's and three A-7's. I have to admit that one of the 85's is a rebarreled action done by Mark Bansner. I wanted a 280 and that's the only way I could get it. Lilja barrel with the exact contour of the factory in the Finnlight. Great shooter.

While back I took apart my son-in-law's Tikka T3 Lite SS to clean up after the season was over.

Honestly, I was really impressed with the simplicity, design, functionality, and especially the precision finishing. Frankly, makes my Remingtons, by comparison, look a tad bit crude.

And the darn thing shoots like a rifle worth twice as much!

I think the Sako A7 is a slightly even more refined version of the T3...and weighs only .2 pounds more.

Go to the store, and work the action on a Remington, Sako and a Tikka, and then try the triggers. And look at fit and finish.

And then compare pricing...

Just sayin'...

The Sako is an over $1,500 rifle and the folks at the factory developed the Tikka T3 to lower manufacturing costs for a down-market product. The A7 was developed to market a rifle with Sako virtues for under $1,000.

I haven't acquired a new Remington rifle in some years, so I don't know where their quality control is now. For a while they sold some product that seemingly needed after market help to operate up to the price level. (I know they know how to do this.)

That's a tough call for me. I have both brands and I hate the Remingtons lack of a lock closed bolt. With my experience the Sako is a higher quality gun thru and thru (not by much) but I'd have to go with American made.
