Now.... What is really interesting... Is to remove the ones that have already been made. And then remove the ones that there is no factory ammo available for... And this is what you have left: Rimmed Cartridges:
.225 Win .25/20 WCF .25/35 Win. .32 Win Spl .32/20 WCF .327 Federal .348 Win
Kind of sobering, isn't it?

What happened to the swift?

Where's the 7mm-08 and 284 Winchester? Well, BOTH have been made by Ruger. But I missed them on your list.

But I went back thru the list of all the previous suggestions, and I saw nowhere did anyone suggest the 7mm-08 or the .284 Win... Another poster mentioned the .220 Swift, but I didn't see that one either.... Perhaps I'm just blind...

Very interesting spec sheet you put together. Thanks for the effort. I'll line up for the 35 Rem, 358 Win, and 300 Savage when Ruger gets around to building them!! They MUST be on the horizon somewhere.

I can attest that the .221 Fireball, in a rifle, is a very, VERY sweet shooter, more than accurate enough for prairie dogs, as an example, and is very economical to shoot. I love my little CZ Fireball, and I've got access to others, a 700 Classic, a custom-built Howa, and some Coopers. There are some LVSF Remingtons out there, too. All of them shoot great. The CZ I alluded to, was a half-inch gun, sometimes much less than that, right out of the box, with inexpensive 50gr. SPSX bullets. Funner than it oughta be, too.
None on a Number One, but that's just a barrel swap away, of course. Ruger already makes extractors for .223, so a barrel swap is all you'd need.

Nobody remembers the 35 Winchester? I don't see real nostalgia connected to a lot of the suggestions. Must be a younger crowd.

Yes Sir, I agree. But then again, it has been interesting to see what it means to different folks. To tell you the truth, I never thought this post would generate this much traffic, was just wanting to "shoot the breeze" when I started it I've tried to shy away from saying "nay" on anyones ideas 'cause well, I didn't want it to be about me, really just wanted to see more talk on the singleshot board. I can't even explain why some choices don't appeal to me. For example, my first single shot rifle was a gift from my Dad, and of course I wouldn't part with it. However, it just doesn't thrill me to use it as much as some other rifles I have, and I ask myself why? The caliber is old (1920's I think) It has a looooong history of outstanding performance in the field, has been a pet of some famous outdoorsmen... Efficient, popular, components and loaded ammo are plentiful. So why I am I not as enthusiastic about it? (it's a 270 winchester btw ) I guess the "different" or "oddity" factor is part of what makes me like, what I like. And can't help but feel like that makes me a bit silly. But I guess there is no harm in it.

Now here are the rimless suggestions:
.221 Fireball .244 H&H Mag. .25 Rem. .250/3000 Savage .256 Newton .257 Robts .257 Wby .275 H&H .275 Rigby .280 Ross .30 Carbine .300 H&H .300 Savage .318 Westley Richards .340 Wby .35 Remington .35 Whelen .358 Win. .375 H&H .404 Jeffery .416 Rigby 6.5 Rem Mag 6.5x54 MS 6.5x55 Swede 7x57 Mauser
Again, those in Red have been chambered by Ruger at some time or another.... I've never heard of a 275 Rigby and you say Ruger made it? Here is my list of Ruger Calibers in the #1 and #3's. Some are probably wrong. Let's put a definitive list together with the help of all the experts on here. Then the configuration they were made in and possibly which are the most rare. Those with question marks I'm uncertain of. 218 Bee 204 Ruger 22 Hornet 22PPC (22BR) 222 222 Mag? 223 22-250 220 Swift 240 Weatherby Mag ? 243 6mm 25-06 257 Roberts 264 Win Mag 6.5 Swedish (6.5x55) 6.5 Creedmoor 6.5 Rem Mag? 270 270 Weatherby Mag 280 284 Win 7mm Mag 7x57 (Special run made for the Dallas Arms Collectors 275 Rigby) 7mm-08 7,62x39 308 30-30 30-40 Krag 300 RCM 30-06 300 Win Mag 300 Weatherby Mag 303 British 338 RCM 338 Win Mag 357 Mag 35 Whelen 9.3x74R 375 Win Only in #3 375 Ruger 375 H&H 38-55 404 Jeffery 405 Win 416 Rigby 416 Ruger 416 Remington Mag 44 Mag Only in #3 45-70 450/400 3 (400 Jeffery ?) 450 Nitro Express 3 460 S&W Mag 458 Mag 458 Lott 475 Linbaugh (480 Ruger) 577 Nitro ? __________ 57 Calibers ?

Interesting thread, somebody beat me to the 38-30 stevens, something neat about that long thin case.
I'm also a fan of rimmed rounds in single shots, so two medium bores I add are the 350 flanged rigby magnum, think of a slightly shorter 375H&H flanged necked down with a sharp shoulder, and of course the 375H&H flanged
If we included wildcats a 35 X 30-30 might be kinda neat.

New one on me. 7x57 is a .284 diameter, where does 275 come from? Too weird. So now we're down to 57 calibers?? I hope Grasshopper chimes in here or El Numero Uno....

Rigby used the land diameter as opposed to the groove diameter. I would like to see one in the 219 zipper or wasp or even the 22 Hi-Power. I have no idea why.

I'm so happy to see potential misunderstandings talked out in an amicable and mature way. It seems those two qualities are sorely lacking with many members and forums on the 'Fire. I appreciate the way things were handled. Must be because we single shot guys, like our rifles, are just more classy! ****************************************************** Yes, DEFINITELY "classy"... and oh so HUMBLE, too! (I just HAD to post this "comment" )
It's smart to hang around old guys 'cause they know lotsa stuff...

I'll throw in for one in .219 Donaldson Wasp, and I would be first in line for one in .22 High Power (if it had a fast twist).

Jeffdwhite: I have a bunch of Ruger #1's right now - I have always enjoyed owning, dealing in and shooting them. The first Ruger #1 I owned (bought new) had serial number 1,300 on it. I have no intention of garnering a complete collection of Ruger #1's but I have always wanted to find an affordable Ruger #1-B in caliber 222 Remington. The last one of these I saw was VERY expensive. These are rare, nostalgic, probably so. Yeah a Ruger #1-B in 222 Remington would have to be classified on the "nostalgic" list (bucket list!) for me.
