I'm not David but.... Chicken chili, shrimp and steak fajitas( doing the flank steak on the BGE) home made guacamole, chicken wings with bee sting home made wing sauce, and a big salad
Before the GB game I was sure Seattle would stomp all comers. They got their asses kicked in that game but survived, so now I'm thinking theres a chance Brady gets his 4th ring tonight.

Go Hawks!! I have a coworker who is filling in for me this afternoon/evening to I can watch the game with friends. Lotsa food and fun for everyone!
I was reading somewhere that this SB is supposed to break all previous records for viewership [if that's a word]. ..like over 112 million?? The only thing that has come close to a SB is the last episode of M.A.S.H. and, If I remember right, that was over 100 million viewers.
Global calls start at 3AM tomorrow so low key tonight.
You choose poorly I put these off to Fridays now. I figure if I'm in at 0200 to get ready I am guilt free leaving at 2-ish on a Friday.
You are correct. Frankly, my mistake was accepting a global position to begin with. Maybe after the rumored 25% staff aug correction I'll go back to North America only. If not, I may just early retire.
NOW if the REDSKINS were in this game I would be in AZ and taking the entire month off!!

Yeah, well, DC would too. Oh, i forgot, most already do.
So I have a really dumb question or so it would appear.
They had to ship the field in from Alabama??? Really!? Can they not grow grass in AZ? Are they afraid a closer state would cheat?? Does this make it a neutral field??
I can't wait for the game 2B over.... and all these big sweat'e dudes hit the shower together... ....after that> let the losing teams wife beating championships begin!
Gotta admit, I'm loving it for the kid from the CFL, Chris Matthews. I guarantee he dreamed about this as a kid and has come out of nowhere tonight. Simply amazing and what a way to have a break out game.
Doug Baldwin draws post-touchdown flag by pretending to poop out a football after scoring touchdown
Posted by Mike Florio on February 1, 2015, 9:05 PM EST Baldwin Getty Images After leaving Patriots cornerback Darrelle Revis in the dust, it appeared that Seahawks receiver Doug Baldwin pretended to take a dump.
It’s still unclear precisely what Baldwin did after scoring. Whatever it was, he drew a flag for it, with 15 yards applied on the kickoff.
In real time, Baldwin seemed to pretend to pull down his pants, a la Randy Moss more than a decade ago during a postseason game at Lambeau Field. Moss pretended to moon the crowd, and he then rubbed his rump against the goal post, prompting FOX’s Joe Buck to declare it to be a “disgusting act.”
The common thread? Cris Collinsworth worked as an analyst in both games. So he has that going for him. Which is nice.

Yeah!! By the way, that was stupid clock management on the part of the Pats earlier. Score a touchdown on 2nd down when youre 5 yards out before the 2 minute warning?? They should have run another play to burn another 30 seconds off the clock. They lucked out getting that interception.
Glad the classy team won. It's good for the nation and good for the NFL. We don't need any hayseed teams from third world western cities winning no stinking superbowls.
Seahawks are the luckiest football team in the league. They have had more calls, more fluke plays and more miracles go their way than the rest of the NFC. Their luck ran out tonight with that stupid play call.
It was a great game though, can't complain about that.
Interested to hear the explanation on the call, even though there is really no excuse.
Good game and although I was not rooting for either team, I can't say I'm real sorry for the outcome. All you Seahawk fans now know how Packer fans felt two weeks ago.
Dumbest call EVER not running the ball there.......
WTF was Pete Carol thinking !!! He must have took that call outta the Packer's Playbook
You just can't make any sort of excuse for it. It was horrible, and 10 years from now people will still remember exactly how horrible it was.
"Hey Pete, we got Marshawn Lynch, and 3 tries to get a yard for a TD to win SB"
"Uhhhhh, I know, let's pass it right up the middle......."
+1
With Lynch in your backfield and three tries from a half a yard out, you're golden. Unless of course you try to throw over the middle for a yard. Book it!
That was a very good game to watch. I thought that Pete Carroll was very stand-up in the interview after the game. I especially like the Progressive commericial after the game with Kenny Mayne and Lynch.
Putting the ball in the air when every guy on the field is crammed into a 10 yd space is flat stupid when you have Lynch and are on the 1 yd. line with 3 attempts to go.
Putting it up in the flippin' middle of the field is even more stupid. A tipped ball is not only more likely, but can much more easily turn into an interception given the density of players in said situation.
It was irresponsible, risky, and stupid. And bit them in the a$$........
Your homo-erotic fantasies are kicking in and that ain't my gig.
Taking a shot is one thing. Being epically f'king stupid as to become the "what not to f'kin' do" example for every level of football for the next century is not "taking a shot".
What exactly was he "trying" to do, lose the game? Two downs before, they had just came off one of those fluky plays that totally shifted the momentum. NE hadn't really stopped Lynch the entire game and, in fact, they gave him the ball immediately after and he moved the ball to the 1 1/2 - 1 yard line. Now it's second down and you choose not to give it to the best short yardage back in football, three more times? No second guessing here; that was pure hubris on the part of Carroll. This SB reminded me quite a bit of the Rose Bowl that USC lost to Texas. The karma from Pete's USC days/departure and Reggie Bush may have caught up with him.
At least the Hawks were gentlemen in defeat just prior to the clock running out.
Good point. At least the network sort of stayed with the action instead of instantly pulling away every time someone acts like an ass as they usually do.
Not defendin the outcome, moron, but the ATTITUDE.
G'DAM, he TRIED, outside the uderstandin of losers with "trophy rooms" like you.
You, assuming you BS is accurate, killed animals with no understanding that their predator was present, what an accomplishment.
The SEA coach, (who I was rooting against) took his shot against an enemy that was doing there best to stop the attack.
You morons that post "what I woulda done" are the BEST, until you consider YOU ain't even close to having the opportunity to do it, cause, nothin personal, YOU SUCK.
THE MAN, who labored HIS WHOLE LIFE to get to the position to make that call, took a chance.
Admittedly, it didn't work out.
BUT, can't you losers at least acknowledge his achievement in getting to that point, and taking a shot, is worth some admiration?

Hard to believe.
Ask Belichick and the other 30 NFL coaches who weren't in the SB what they would have done if in Pete's shoes. Bet they would have done what a lot of the posters here are saying what play(running) should have been called.
Took a chance?? So what?? Lottery winners take a chance. Do we write books about lottery winners??
Sure, there's chance involved in everything, but having the smarts to see it through is what separates a Henry Ford/Thomas Edison from some guy who just throws crap at the wall to see what sticks.
That was, hands down, one of the dumbest play calls in the HISTORY of pro football. You got three plays left and either Russell Wilson to sneak in the ball or Lynch to run it in. What kind of moron chooses to pass up the middle with that much on the line???
BTW, it was just as stupid for the Pats to score on 2nd down in the previous drive just before the two minute warning. They could have run an additional play, burned the clock down to 1:30, and THEN scored. Seattle didn't get down near the endzone until 20 seconds were left. They might not have ever come that close if Brady/Belichick would have simply had the smarts to run another 30 seconds off the clock.

I hear you....but that coksuuker cheated his way to national championships in college and is trying to do the same now. I'll wish he loses every fuucin' game that he coaches for the rest of his life. He deserves NOTHING. I'm glad he made a dumbazz call....and I hope it haunts him for the rest of his life. He's not even worth of being called scum.

I apologize.
You must be one of the other coaches.
In that event, please tell us what you would have done, keeping in mind deception, setting up the next play, etc., genius.
I admire a MAN, who pulled the plug, way more then internet losers that post "what they woulda done".
BUT I gotta defend a MAN, who took a chance in a certain situation, regardless of the outcome.......
He may be an a$$hole the rest of his career, but, GDAMMIT, he took his shot in THIS GAME, and DAMN any Ahole that calls him on that.........
im not even a football guy but taking a chance like that when you dont have to with that much on the line is called stupidity, not something to be admired.....
Seattle had time outs remaining. Why not use one to get everybody on the same page, make sure you have the right play call and personnel, and then go back out and execute?
Well I was going for the guys with the white shirts, and they won so thats good. Those black guys certainly seem rather excitable. I think this is the first Superbowl I've watched in 10 years. Would this rate as an average, poor or good game?
BUT I AM sayin, it was the man in the arena........
Knock em' dead, I'm sure YOU'll never be wrong.
My Bad.
dude the guy made a chit phuggin call.....he is paid not to make chit phuggin calls in such situations....he gambled when there was no reason to....no matter who is writing the book that is stupidity.....
BUT I gotta defend a MAN, who took a chance in a certain situation, regardless of the outcome.......

I hear you, dog. I'm just glad it worked out the way it did. Could have gone the other way just as easy. Incomplete pass......I guarantee you he'd run the ball twice and get in.
I have another reason to hate the seahawks. Michael Crabtree is a Tech alum and so am I. I met him and got his autograph and he's a great kid. He deserved nothing that Sherman gave him last year and I only want bad stuff to happen to Sherman from then on. Just human nature....nothing else. I also hope his kid is born with three feet or three hands or three eyes......or something like that. Nothing personal. LOL.
the issue is your freaking out cause a guy made a bad call and need to feel good about it, thefact everyone else isnt helping you repair your ego is phuggin with your head.....the psychology of your posts aint hard to figure out....
If Pete Carrol, who I do not know, came upon me in a bar, and started [bleep], I'd choke him out, if I could.
That's not where my posts are directed.
I apologize for my posts, if anyone felt that I was supporting the hawks.
HOWEVER, I AM supporting any man, or woman, that takes a shot in a sporting event, or other event of import, that evinces their best efforts to promote the goals of that particular side of the contest, within the rules, towards the goal of success.
That support will be unwavering.
The first rule, as has been taught to me, is that anything can happen.
And it can.
But that does not diminish in any way, my support for the person that "makes the call", and takes the responsibility for the result.
Had the play called succeeded, in this case, we'd not be having this discussion.
But, I will not waver in my support of a person making a call, no matter the outcome, and no matter the second-guessers, who have never guessed wrong, as evidenced on this forum.
BUT, I can't stand to see a MAN, much that I dislike the team, take the heat for taking a chance on a play.
THE MAN, who has more balls than most on here, had a decision to make.
In 10 seconds. The other 10 being sent to the QB.
That would define his life.
He made it.
There is no looking back.
Unless you're 4loser, or someone who's omniscient.
Those are a dime a dozen here.
HOLY SHIDT!, why doesn't the net hire these A$$holes for head coaches?
Cause they can't take the results, that's why.
Course, I'm guessin.
Um, you do realize that there are stupid plays in sports, right?
If I leave the net to play the puck in the Cup finals while my team is killing a power play in OT, turn it over and get scored on only an idiot that doesn't understand the position gives me credit for "taking a shot"
I'm a lifelong Seattle sports fan and all i can say was that it was one HELL of a game and the only thing anyone should be mad about was that stupid mini brawl. I'm glad Bruce Irvin apologized for his behavior but it still wasn't good. Now, get ready for baseball season! Go Mariners!

a chit play is a chit play....doesnt matter if its high school or pro ball....thats what you cant seem to figure out....and at the level of the Superbowl, it was an EXTREMELY phuggin stupid play because they definitely should have known better....thats why they get paid what they do....
Face it, if that pass had been caught for a touchdown, Carrol would have been the smartest coach in history. It was the call that nobody expected. The DB that intercepted the ball had no idea what was happening until about 1/2 second before the ball arrived.
I had low expectations, not a fan of ether team, but that was a good game. I agree, the rookie that intercepted that pass should have been MVP, because after 59 minuets and 40 seconds, HE single handedly won the game for he Patriots.
and yet i coulda made a better call at that play which is the whole phuggin point.....this isnt a smart play that through bad luck went wrong thats just one of those things....it was a chitty phuggin call to make all around.....
I wasn't a football guy. I have had numerous times where it was up to me to win or lose a hockey tournament though.
It is fun knowing that if you make one more save in a shootout that you win.
I have played in front of thousands of people. Making that number millions wouldn't make a stupid play any less stupid. It would make it more so though.....
Hey, where is "OKOK" or Bok MoK' or whoever that guy is who has been on hear talking Seahawk smack for the last month, I think he needs to show up and eat some crow.
Any one of us "experts" watchin' could have done "better".
BUT, we hadn't invested YEARS of our life gettin to that point.
IT'S NOT that "one" decision (or guess), but what lead to it that would make us the person that would be called upon to make that decision.
Your record of decisions made you the person that would NOT be called upon to make that decision.
Yes, it's easy to be the person that would have made the decision to do something else, but it's hard to be the person that's made thousands of decisions in the past, correctly, that led to the OPPORTUNITY to make the decision that went wrong.
So, you could have made ONE decision right, according to you, assuming you would have made it correctly, but we are supposed to assume you would have made the thousands of other choices right to get you into that positions?
Ehough Monkeys and keyboards would write war and peace, right?

so your stance is its ok to make a gloriously horrible decision just cause you have made SOME good ones in the past? cause he sure in the hell hasnt made all good decisions in his career and this was his first phug up....
i made enough good decisions that i was signing my own paychecks by the time i was 26, i made two real major phug ups in my life.....first was being blind about a gal cause i loved her and put all my eggs in that one basket.....second was not forcing psyclobin mushrooms down her throat when the choice was those or a FDA approved drug that could and did rewire her brain.....now not only are her and i divorced but she has royally phugged up her relationships with her daughters, with one probably to the point of being gone for good cause i didnt force her to do something illegal....
You do realize that a lot of elite NFL minds are already calling it one of the worst play calls in history, right?
Like I said to a crazy hockey dad once: "you may think I am an idiot who doesn't know anything about playing goal (or football in this case), but please go over and tell that guy (pointing to Don Beaupre who played about 20 years in the NHL) he is an idiot too. His evaluation was almost exactly the same as mine."
So, have another beer JV. It will all work itself out.
At the end of the day its nothing more than running around a field with a football. I picked the Patriots just for [bleep] and giggles but I could give a flying fphuck who really wins.
When I really think about it at the end of the days what did it really accomplish?
The answer is not a fphucking thing!!!
Its good for [bleep] and giggles and to eat food and drink a beer or two.
Maybe (certainly) I'm crazy, but I'd not let a MAN's decision be second-guessed by a collection of never-was's.
I don't GAF the result of a GAME, but I'd GTH before I'd let a MAN's decision be second-guessed by a bunch of losers without defense.
Pete Carrol (SP?) MADE A CALL.
Bunch a punks that never made a call, are second-guessin that call, bein' omnipotent and all, and bein' the geniuses an NFL team would call upon to lead their team (not).
I'm not defendin the team, or the coach.........
BUT
I AM defendin the MAN that makes a decision, right or wrong, win or lose, made upon the moment, no help, nobody to lay off the blame, and LIVES, or DIES, with that decision.
Buncha pu$$ies here that woulda done different, that's why they are the coach of the Shehawks.
How would I know I'd pick a internet fight with the coaches of pro football teams?
Man, I f'ed up here.
Rattler woulda scored, like he did with that dude in AUS (no offense to that guy, seems like a straight up brother), everybody else woulda scored, makes me feel like a loser (quote that).
Apparently, I'm not qualified to respond, cause I've been wrong in the past.

Who really gives a fphuck. I can think of a few things in life that are truly important and running around a field with a football doesn't classify as much more than mild humor.
Congrats to all the Patriot's fans! What a great game.
I am still in disbelief that an offensive coach or head coach would tell Wilson to throw the ball at that point and risk a Superbowl win. Lynch could have ran it and made the TD with 3 more tries [and possibly 1 attempt]. They still had 2 time outs left as well. It's absolutely unbelievable and was a stupid call. I don't care who you are.

Shod
Then what possessed you to even click on this thread?
What an unbelievably stupid play to run at that point in the game. It doesn't matter how good you are when you are that dumb.
Actually, I think Wilson checked off at the line........
MM
Yep...Wilson's call. He saw the big boys lined up against him and was spread wide, so he made the pass call.
He didn't check out of anything he stayed with the called play, confirmed by Carol and Bevell after the game. Wilson also said that was the call, no check was made.
I didn't get in on any of that. I was designated driver and just got back home. I figured it was a check off because no coach is that stupid...are they??

SeaFags' luck ran out tonight.
Apparently, there are some stupid enough to risk a Superbowl by throwing a ball for no good reason.....even when you have the best [or one of the best] runners in the NFL on your team. Talk about a crazy making decision.
Why would any coach have him carry the ball down so close to the goal line? He only gains 2-5 yards after contact and never fumbles. It just doesn't make sense.
There was enough time to run the ball three times (Seattle had a timeout). Seattle had the #3 rush offense of all time, the toughest RB to tackle ever, vs. the 30th ranked power situations run defense, in the highest leverage set of downs in NFL history. From the 1 yard line.
Never in the history of the NFL did a situation call for a run more. That close to back to back wins...makes me sick. Carroll could have nixed Bevell decision, so it's all on Pete. This team has a bright future and will be back SOON! UGH!

Crazy is right. My father-in-law was yelling so loud it scared their poodle and sent her running. My mother-in-law got "Don" some whiskey so he could calm down and go to bed.
Petes problem, like that of a lot of Seattle fans, is that they think Wilson is a God and can't make a mistake.
Can't really blame them in a way, cause they had been so lucky to be there in the first place. Their luck finally ran out. They got a little cocky, and it bit them in the ass.
Easily one of the most stupid calls in history. Only thing dumber would have been to kick a field goal.
Lynch was making good yardage all game and could hold onto the ball. Beastiality or whatever the Seattle folks call it, should have ruled the day. Any attempt at a pass should have been to the tall guy on a fade.
Hell you wouldn't be there if only for one play against GB. Bostick does his assigned job and blocks instead of trying to catch the onside kick ball which would've gone into WR Jordy Nelsons hands and the Packers would be playing today. Watch the replay. Packers fired their special teams coach yesterday.
The Seafleas weren't the best team the NFC had to offer today. They barely made through the season. Karma. It's a bitch.

Seahawks suck and are Bradys bitch go back to your basement ,,,BOOK IT BABY PATRIOTS REAL DYNASTY!!!
In spades!
Was a lucky miracle reception that put them in position to win in the first place!! "Legion of BOOM" gave up 28 points....not exactly 1st at anything during the game.

Might snap you to simply congratulate the better team on the day.....
Hopefully the best thing to come out of this superbowl is the crotch grabber, and the mooner will have been put in their places, and the loudmouth, especially the loudmouth will finally shut his piehole for once. I bet the loudmouth grates on everybody but a seahags fan.
Saw the Carrol interview after the game and if I'm not mistaken, he didn't even congratulate the Pats. I could be wrong on that as it was kinda loud here. But another annoying person there. Must be sumpin in the Seattle water.
With the game in the balance, and you have the equivalent of Michael Jordan in the backfield and don't put it in his hands each time you come down the court, you've got a screw loose.
Carroll simply outsmarted himself. And it couldn't happen a more deserving fellow.
The last play call by Seattle may be the dumbest call in the history of organized football.
You have a big, strong nearly unstoppable running back on the field and a quarterback who is slippery as an eel when running and can throw very well too and you call a slant pass away from both of these strengths with less than 1 yard to go for the winning TD in the Super Bowl.
The offensive coordinator and the head coach ought to be tarred, feathered and run out of town on a rail for making such a call.

Exactly.
And CLASSIC meltdown by Fubarski, I still don't know WTF he is talking about...

"BOOK THIS".... Arrogance kills...
Was the sweetest of wins for the PATS...
Agreed...dumbest luck, fumbling reception going set the Seahawks up for the win. That catch was their lottery win and you don't get two of those in a row.
Then they blew it.
OTOH Brady dissected their wonderful defense like a surgeon, and set them up for meltdown. A Classic and a great game by both sides, about the best g SB game I have seen. But the Pats clearly deserved the win .
Games like that usually go to the team making the fewest mistakes.

If you count back to the Packers game, they had another one just to get to the super bowl.

+1. The talking heads on sports radio are saying it is one of the dumbest plays in the history of organized sports. The Seahawks are an emotionally charged team and could implode as a result of this. Why didn't Wilson call a time out and ask the coaches, wtf is up with this play?
Yeah, the pass play that was called for the last play was a very low percentage play for the situation and position on the field. Low percentage to the point of utter stupidity, given the other options available. That being said, it came very close to working, except for the one thing nobody seems to be talking about. In the post game interview, a still shellshocked young rookie made a quiet statement. He said he saw the receivers stacked, recognized it as a pick or a jam on one of the d-backs, avoided the pick, and jumped the pass on the intended receiver. It wasn't an accident. It wasn't luck. He read the play, and he saw it coming. Had he been jammed, or missed the INT or bat down on the pass, he would have been skewered like a goat and put over a hot fire almost instantaneously. BUT, he didn't. He did his job, and did it exceptionally well, even more so for a rookie. IMO, there were several players far more valuable than Tom Brady on that field.
Well in that case... You win. You're the new biggest dick on the internet. You can throw your dilldo in the trophy case now. Well, another dilldo in there I should say.

Seattle saw that NE had their run D on the field with Butler, the Pats 5th DB on the roster, and called 3 plays, 2 down was going to be a quick slant, actually a Pats specialty, and this was to be followed by 2 Lynch runs on 3rd and 4th down, and leaving no time on the clock.
The patriots ran that slant play in practice many times with BB stopping practice to yell at the DB's to stay focused as he assured them they would see that play in the game.
Butler stated after the game that he recognized the play at the snap and stepped in front of the receiver.
BTW, Butler has his own T shirts today, The Butler Did It.
From an offensive perspective, three things can happen when you pass. Two of them are bad.
1. Completion 2. Incomplete Pass 3. Interception
I could have cared less who won that football game, but anyone who ever played a down of football, and even the dallas cowboy cheerleaders know that if you have less than 60 seconds left in a ball game, and you have the ball on the plus 2 yard line, you don't pass.
BUT---Wilson did NOT put that ball where he should have AND the receiver did not square up to QB or try to block out the defender in any way.
Not only was it a bad call, but very poorly executed by Wilson and his WR...........
It's reported this morning that the pats have been running that very play in practice to prep the defense. Butler reacted instantly. That's good coaching, and great talent on defense.
Its was one of the few times in the last five years a receiver "paid" for going into the middle.....
I get a kick out of the whole Super Bowl crap; teams play all year with ninny rules and enforcement, but the last two Super Bowls they just let them play.
I haven't seen anything today, but I'd bet Wilson checked out of the run.
He looked pretty "green" after the interception....
I'm not so sure it was a terrible play call. They didn't have time for three runs but did have time for a quick pass and two runs if the pass was incomplete.
Just food for thought.
In any case the SeaHags lost, and that's a good thing.
I'll go against the grain and say it was NOT an idiotic play call, no matter what Chris Collinsworth and the other armchair quarterbacks might say. It was a great play call that went bad in the execution. It was a good play call, could've easily gone the other way if any of a hundred tiny things had gone differently.
We've all seen touchdowns scored on that same play time and again... the quick slant to the slot receiver is a very high percentage play, usually good for 3-10 yards and if the safeties are playing the run, it can break the game open.
Patriots practiced that play on both sides of the ball. They've scored TD's and first downs with it multiple times. Butler recognized it and aggressively defensed it.
Big deal. I was busy all weekend moving house, I saw the last 5 minutes of the game with a cup of green tea and a bellyful of takeout Chinese. Life was--and is-- very, very good.

Wilson didn't choke. If anything, the reciever ran a lazy route after seeing Butler 7 yards off of him. Wilson threw a good pass.
Problem was, Butler was keying on that play, and streaked to the ball at the snap. Great defensive play..
Idiotic play call.
Yep. Butler saw it coming from the snap and straight blew Lockette up. He never had a shot at it.
Read an interview about that recently. Butler said he knew it was a pass from the moment they broke the huddle and said "hey, I'd throw it at me, too" so he jumped the route (only chance he had to make any play) and the rest is history.
That call is, without a doubt, the worst call in the history of football championship games. Given that all the other sports have a series to decide the victor, this call may be the worst in the history of championships.
They had a time out, and plenty of time for wilson to roll out, and dump the ball OB to kill the clock if nothing happened.
Fact is, Lynch could have walked in.
"Fact is"???
I'm not disagreeing with the supposition that the percentage play call was to let Lynch run the ball... but Seattle wasn't running the ball with impunity in the 4th quarter, and their 3rd down efficiency was only 3/10 for the whole game (and a goal line offense is, essentially a 3rd down offense).
If Lynch runs in for a touchdown, then Kearse gets credited with one of the greatest catches in history, laying on his back juggling, but finally grabbing it.

He better be careful talking like that! Pats been known to intercept a signal or two!

Green Bay had one a couple of weeks ago...
Just people overthinking a simple game and that can happen.

Weren't no "fact is".
They weren't running with impunity? What game did you watch?
You have the ball less than 5 feet away from the win, timeouts, and you're averaging 5.6 yards PER CARRY.

GB had several bad breaks and one bonehead not doing his job. They didn't snatch defeat from the jaws of victory because the coach made the worst call in the history of the game.
If he don't get in, I don't think anybody would cry that they should have tried a pass up the middle.
I'd say 99% of the football watching world would not bet the Pats stopping Lynch short of scoring on 3 attempts from the 1 YL.
He11, at one point Bellichick seemed to be contemplating letting them score to save time and get brady the ball back. I was thinking it myself, but decided at the moment I'd not have done it.
If anything else, you spread the field and have Wilson roll out. Giving him the option to run or pass to an isolated receiver being covered 1 on 1 in the corner. Or something like Brady's last TD pass tp Edelman. Low risk. It is safer than even a fade, and he can always throw it away or step out. That said, I would have ran 99/100 times.
Basically, you do just about anything other than what they did.
It was an epically bad call. And you don't have to a football coach to see that.....
They had a time out, and plenty of time for wilson to roll out, and dump the ball OB to kill the clock if nothing happened.

Halas wisdom is timeless.....
Y'all's a buncha dinosaurs... I played safety, and there's a whole buncha other possible outcomes from a pass play:
4. Receiver will blow a snot-bubble while coughing up the ball. 5. Receiver will pee blood for a week after coughing up the ball. 6. Receiver will leave the game after coughing up the ball.
That call is, without a doubt, the worst call in the history of football championship games. Given that all the other sports have a series to decide the victor, this call may be the worst in the history of championships.

Pesonally, I think every time a coach kicks a field goal on the six inch line or throws a fricken slant pass, its the worst call in the history of the game, whether there's 40 seconds or its the first drive.
Its a simple game, but you have to put it on the players, always.
When everyone and their brother in the whole damn stadium is expecting one thing and you do the opposite is not stupid football. You are called a genius when it works. And it has worked many, many times.
If the Pats had stopped Lynch on the next two downs, all the MM quarterbacks would be screaming that he should have called for a pass...

He didn't check out, that was the play call. Bevell and Carol do that stupid crap on the goal line frequently, it usually results in an incompletion.

It was still a great game.
You don't need to do the unexpected to win the game in that situation. Just execute.
Well it wasn't his best play call ever that's for sure. But I can respect what he was trying to do. Just like at the first half, they were there to win, not play it safe.
I'm not saying it was the call I would have made, but I can't exactly say the game loss was because of the call. The quarterback did his job, the receiver did his job; they didn't screw up. What happened was an absolutely outstanding job of pass defending. He got the read, made a one step correction, bumped the receiver out of the way and made probably the biggest play of his life.
Everyone's talking about how the Seahawks blew it, but someone ought to give Butler some seriously huge props for that play.
Pretty much horsecrap that Edelman didn't get the MVP....IMO.
Yep.
And Butler being and undrafted rookie.. You think he's getting a raise?
Yep.
To me, the BEST part of the entire game was Butler and Mathews.
Butler (undrafted rookie out of the University of West Alabama - really, there's a West Alabama?) making huge plays and THE play at the end. The dude was working at Popeye's Chicken 4 years ago, then two years at a community college and two years at West Alabama. Undrafted, signs to the practice squad, and boom.
Mathews was undrafted, cut by the Browns, went arena league, CFL, injured and cut by the CFL, and was working at Foot Locker when Seattle gave him a try-out call. He had ZERO receptions until last night.
Who takes home the Lombardi trophy? Like I said last year defense wins championships..none better than the Hawks. Russell has a record of 10-0 against winning former SB QB'S...and 17-1 in prime time games. Seattles secret weapon could turn out to be Luke Willson at the TE postion. Beastmode will get the MVP.
I can remember Bo Schembechler and what he woulda thought about such a call. He would be smiling ear to ear after seeing a team lose the game by running a slant over the middle on the 1 yd. line on 2nd down and plenty of time on the clock...
... And Butler being and undrafted rookie.. You think he's getting a raise?
As well as Chris Matthews for the Seahawks. I have always maintained that there are lots of people out there who could be playing that are overlooked by the people that decided who can play and who can't.

Makes you wonder why he wasn't playing the rest of the year. A guy who obviously has the capability to make plays and is a big target which is exactly what Seattle needs from a receiver, but they ran out the freaking midget squad every game.
.....And they are right. Passing that ball on 2nd down and goal from the ""ONE"" yard line in heavy traffic greater risked an interception or a tipped ball to NE. And look at what happened. The lower risk and greater chances for a Seattle TD was giving Lynch the ball.
Carroll gave the game away to NE with that boneheaded play call.
You have one of the best and most powerful RBs in the NFL (Lynch) and Pete-eee should have used him from the one yard line.
Chris Collingsworth was dead on the money with his opinion.

all for nought, though...
I believe Kearse will be remembered for making quite a catch, whatever else happened or didn't.

While I can understand feelings such as this, the reality of the situation is Brady passed for well over 300 yards against the best defense in the NFL this year. With a 10-point lead at the start of the fourth quarter, this defense could not deliver a second straight Super Bowl title for the Seahawks. Brady simply picked them apart like the veteran he is and his precision in the second half, for my money, was the difference in the game.
When a defense can't hold a lead, it puts extra pressure on the offense to score enough points to win and sometimes that doesn't happen. I realize the last call could have been the difference between a win and a loss but it would have been immaterial if the defense had done their job, or done what they did during the regular season. They simply didn't execute.

That is a very good observation. It seems like defense always gets a pass and the offense gets the blame. Offense wins games, defense is supposed to keep you from losing them.
That will forever be one of the sports world's great abstract mysteries....
Sports world abstract mysteries? How about when Les Miles "answers" a question? When he gets going I expect to hear Ravi Shankar twanging on a sitar in the background.

It didn't make me any difference as to who would be the winner but in watching this particular game....I had never witnessed a call such as what went down....especially when the Hawks had Lynch who was gaining anywhere from 4-8 yards per carry!! And it was only 2nd down!

You said it better than I did. I've since heard that Pete was not looking at that play to score. He was planning to score on the 3rd or 4th ???? He wanted to run more time out. If I remember right, there was less than a minute to go...

I am still in disbelief that an offensive coach or head coach would tell Wilson to throw the ball at that point and risk a Superbowl win.
I'm still in disbelief that a man would rob unsuspecting folks out of their hard earned money and his wife would stick up for it.
You have no idea what you're talking about. Slander is a dangerous habit, Mr. TZone.
Pretty hard to argue against facts...The cases involving your husband and insurance fraud are very well documented. In order for Tzone to be slanderous, he needs to be wrong....

I'm still in disbelief that a man would rob unsuspecting folks out of their hard earned money and his wife would stick up for it.
You have no idea what you're talking about. Slander is a dangerous habit, Mr. TZone.
Slander requires that the accusation or accusations be false and in their falsehood damaging, to a financially measurable degree, the reputation or business of the subject of the accusation or accusations.
If one inferred that tzone was describing your husband (even though he does not state that, so the slander accusation fails there alone), the accusations are not false. That has been proven and the cases public record.
Even if the accusations were against your husband, and even if they were false (which they are not), there could be no measurable financial loss to his reputation because he has little reputation worth any merit here at all, nor does he ostensibly run any business or other enterprise that would suffer financial harm (unless, of course, he's engaged in the interstate trade of firearms for profit, without an FFL - I.e., illegal gun-running - again).
Therefore, your slander accusation fails on all points.
How about the I'm gonna sue cause your being mean forum.
Can't sue if there is no merit to the claim.
How about the "my feelings are hurt and I can't scam as well any more because people are mean by stating that I'm a con artist" forum? Crooked insurance agents with public case decisions against them, and bad deals done in the Classifieds, and the whole host of other shady crap, can then have their own little "fiefdom" as it were.
One should have RWE start this, as it is amazing what those of the lineage of Durin's Folk can amass in terms of vocabulary over just a few short centuries.
TZone.
Who did I slander?
Keep denying your motives if it suits you. You have made similar statements in other posts. Make sure you know what you are talking about when running a lady down. I have been an advocate for the elderly and other vulnerable populations for many years and you will not find one person who knows me that will say otherwise.
I would never "stick up" for anyone robbing people of their money or anything else. If you are talking about someone else, then please stop quoting me and then putting your comments below that quote.
On this forum, it indicates your response is directed at me in some way. Otherwise, you would have made a general statement without placing my quote above what you post.
Thank you for taking this into consideration. ~ Sherri

Oh, geez. Did Tzone rob some old lady of her life savings to fund something Uber?
There aren't many plays resulting in epic goofs that go down in the annals of sports history and live forever; but this interception will be one of them.
Seahawk fans can take solice that New England fans have suffered their own share of indignities and maybe this SB win by the Pats is our redemption....hey maybe we had it coming and deserved this win, because this is what happened to us.
Many on here are way to young to remember this from the 1986 World Series.
The play was bogus. If it was only an ex-running back saying so, it might have less weight, but almost every NFL and ex-NFL player tweeting said basically the same thing-unbelievable. This includes Shannon Sharpe who one would think, would be for throwing the ball if anybody would. After the Seahawks were set up, I wondered about running the clock down and immediately decided against it if I'd been the coach. There was little time left anyway and it was just too thin. IMO a good coach punches it in and then lets the Special Teams and D do their thing again. Any way you look at it, it was a run situation. Trying to spend up seconds was almost as dumb as passing itself.
Hardly anybody on here goes by their full, real name. Even if the person's first or last name is their "Display Name" it does little to identify them. It's pretty hard to slander a Handle. Folks posting under their real name are going against every bit of advice ever offered on how to post on a message board.

Damn, the same old schtick.
You are almost as bad as sherp.
Victim [bleep], then you go to how good you are to different groups of people.
I got news for you sister.
I support a lot of folks too. A lot of organizations and ministries and I do not come on to this place to talk about them.
In fact, I don't really talk about them anywhere except to the people I am helping.
You know why? Cause deep down inside, I am still the same guy I was 20 years ago and he wasn't nice at all. Not at all. And some of that was even in my "saving lives" phase.
Frankly, Jesus doesn't need my endorsement.
I am just trying to be better.
Don't play that you could be innocent of the accusations here simply because you are an advocate of anything.
Blow.
Your bullshit is annoying.
eta, I was a little cranky this morning, and no coffee.
I was coming back to edit or tone down my post, but really, aside from using some different words, I'm not sure it would have changed much.
All I can say is that there has been a lot of information provided on the forum, and it would be hard to conclude that there was nothing but best intentions and misunderstandings from what has been shown.
Seems a more penitent response would be anonymity and humility in service, rather than a focal perch.

I remember that well Bob. I almost felt like crying for Buckner. Those poor Red Sox suffered through a lot back in those years.
As far as the game Sunday, it's like any other championship game in that only one team can win. Sometimes it is one's favorite and sometimes not.
Probably not many here remember the 1958 World Series. The Milwaukee Braves had a 3 game to 1 lead over the Yankees and lost the final three games. I was only 14 at the time but that was about the hardest thing for me to get over because I was so sure the Braves were going to win their second world series in a row. Add to that, I disliked the Yankees more than any team in baseball because it seemed like they always won. Fortunately some wise person got it through my young, thick head that it is only a game and there is always next year. If there isn't a next year then it really didn't matter anyway.
We all want our team to win but unfortunately that doesn't always happen. Today I admire a good loser as much as a winner. My impression of Sherman changed a bit when he went out and congratulated Brady after the game was over. That to me was a classy move on his part.
If that undrafted, walk-on, rookie, making minimum wage had not had such a great read on the play, we'd be putting Oh,Cock! on ignore for the incessant "Dynasty" drivel.
If that play had been a reception, Carroll would be a genius.
If Marshawn had been stacked up at the 1 three more times, Pats still win.
You get e-mails from a thread? Auto-generated every time someone posts or what?
yes. the software change has " add thread to watch topics" checked. everytime someone posted on this thread,I would get an email. I was deleting emails for awhile.
I'm not sure which was more unexpected; the miracle interception to win the game by the Pats or the miracle catch made by the Seahawks the play before it. Good game to the end. I don't understand how people get all butt hurt about a football game though. It's not like they are playing for them and if they lose money on it I have no sympathy.
