Well so much for supporting the 2nd anendnent.
We may well need to dump trump in the 2020 primary, and all

Will the Dems bring back Pelosi? Or time for new blood?

I am kind of interested in his supporting DACA and the left abandoning them, as I would have thought both positions would run counter to what was expected.

Pelosi knows where too many skeletons are hidden. She'll be our next Speaker.

The Republicans sold us out and will lose heavily in the off-year elections.

I hope my prediction turns out to be 180 degrees wrong, but right now things are not looking too good.

So much for all the "forgotten people" not being forgotten again.

It is disappointing but if the democrats get the House and Senate back in November, Defense won't get a dime for the next 2 years and we will have Obama care back. The country is in a mess and the democrats drove it there starting with LBJ and his great society. Everyone is on the tit and no one wants to give it up.

Pence is a good man, much better than Trump, but it wouldnt change anything even if Pence were in the drivers seat. Big business interests run the country....period. Congress and the Senate are just puppets. The only way to fix it is to make it a hanging offence for any politician to take a dime from anyone or any business for their lifetime in office, which should be no more than 2-terms. Will never happen.

Meh, I think some of you folks are giving Trump too much credit for some secret plan we're all waiting for. The government shutdown/budget showdown has turned into a political hot potato. Everyone tries to make the other guy out to be the one that will be responsible for a shutdown and it's just turned into a game of chicken. Trump didn't want to be seen as the guy responsible for a government shutdown. I wish we had someone who would just let the damn government shutdown already for like 3 months and let everyone see just how little it actually impacts their lives. That's the dirty little secret. All the politicians don't want the people to realize how little they really need many of these programs.

Trump didn't wanna be the scapegoat.

Instead he turned himself into the enabler. The Swamp if you will...

He could have made a hill of this budget and kept his base. But he didn't. I don't know why he didn't, but he didn't.

Reagan sure didn't have any trouble vetoing their frivolous spending bills.

Trump allowed the treasury to be pillaged in exchange for giving a ton of money to the military.

It was his Art of the Deal.

Only things he didn't get that he wanted was millions of illegals becoming citizens, and funding for his wall. He'll keep trying for those.
Posted By: Bristoe Re: Trump Signed The Bill! - 03/23/18
The worst part of it all is that it greatly increases the chance of a Democrat inhabiting the White House in 2020.

Another Democrat President = amnesty = a blue Texas = end game.

I don't mind the military being funded as to what their needs are, but right now we're using the military in chithole places where we don't need to be.

As far as I'm concerned, the biggest threat facing this country is the millions of illegals who are here, and who are helping elect Democrats.....who in turn are encouraging even more of them to come here.

Donald Trump said he was going to do something about that..................HE HAS NOT.

Wrong. The worst part of this is that it only funds the .gov through September. So now we have to fight this out AGAIN during the midterms. Very bad move, Trump. UNLESS... he refuses to sign another budget unless it funds the .gov until the end December, 2020 (i.e. after the 2020 presidential election).

Mark this day on the calendar. This will be a turning point and not for the good. Many will abandon Trump now. The mid terms now will go left as Trump's base will stay home. As was said, "read my lips". Trump may now be impeached, as Bristoe has noted.

Even if Trump knows that there is high need for the military build up, and soon, there was nothing that would have been built in a few days that would have made a difference.

This was Trump's big mistake. It is one I have a hard time believing he made. There must be more to this story.

Ryan and McConnell teamed up with Pelosi and Schumer to ensure the swamp is saved. The whole Trump agenda is most likely now unattainable. Trump was our big hope for a correction and he has been out gunned by the never Trumpers and Romney's little bitch Ryan. We have now done the ballot box thing and you see exactly where that got us. Remember Ryan and McConnell as the swamp rats that ate our liberty, if and when that day of reckoning ever comes about.

Been a really bad day for America.

Never ever surrender.

Just exactly what was President Trump supposed to do?

The yes vote at 65 weren't no coincidence.

When was the last time there was 65 for anything contentious? Never.

Some R's were allowed ta vote no cause they're not well liked and up for re-election.

But, ol' number 66 was obviously waitin in the wings to punk the President if he vetoed it.

The bill was a coordinated effort between R's and D's to jack with Trump for tryin to insist they do what the people put em there for.

And there's no way they're gonna do *that*.

So, the R and D handlers came up with a crapass bill, and agreed to vote 65 yes.

So, Trump vetoes it and gets overridden, or signs it.

The bitches should be directed at congress, not the President.

Yeah, Trump signed it into law...

This was a liberal play orchestrated by the Dimmies, and all the RINOS and Trump played right into it.

Now they are putty in the Dimmie's hands. The next takes place right during the midterms.

Does anyone think the RINOS or Trump will vote against the next one?

I don't.

The bill was passed back and forth tween the R's and the D's, with the agreement anybody could put in whatever they wanted.

And then both sides would make sure it passed, and bigly.

An obvious face-slap to Trump and the American people.

The only face slap was Trump signing it.

The rest was expected.

I agree.

I've never understood the significance of a veto being overridden, but historically Presidents have tried to avoid it.

Dunno why. Right is right.

Maybe it's hard for a person with the type of ego it takes to be elected President, and especially hard for this particular President, to entertain the thought that his decision may be overridden .

I've rooted for him since day one. Since he won the nomination.

I root for our Republic more, though.

You are correct that it is the congress that the people should be pissed at and not Trump. But Trump should have vetoed it even if it was overridden because he would have solidified his base and they would have been energized going into the mid terms. Now the energy has been sucked out of the base and many will stay home. There is so much riding on the mid terms that this mistake will cost him a majority and future wins for his agenda.

I am pissed at Trump for missing this opportunity to show the base he is the fighter we want him to be, not another compromising Republican to keep the swamp alive as many will see him now.

Trump is still our best hope and needs to be supported at the polls this November. A mid term victory will nullify most of this mistake. Otherwise we got nothing.

It appears the swamp scumbags have achieved one of their goals, that is,separating Trump from his voters.
Posted By: Peddler Re: Trump Signed The Bill! - 03/23/18
It's as simple as this. It's Congress' job to pass an acceptable budget. Tell them to grow up, get back to their offices, pass a budget for you to sign and get back to business. This crap about kicking the can down the road every 6 months, and the president tolerating that behavior, sets a precedence that the budget doesn't matter. The Democrats WANT that precedence but if the budget doesn't matter, then the debt doesn't matter. And if the debt doesn't matter, then the country doesn't matter. Trump should have VETO'd this turd, and told them if people cried, screamed and moaned about the government shutting down, them could thank Congress for not doing their job.

It's predictable, all the "I wanna be Trump's Monica" are coming to his rescue, telling us that he didn't have a choice.........the Hell he didn't, he could have vetoed it. I am far more interested in seeing this country succeed than I am in seeing any certain politician come out looking good. It was in the best interests of the country for Trump to veto it. Now, they might have overridden his veto, but that would have been on them. This is on him, and it's probably going to hurt him a lot more than most will admit.

Trump has been the toughest S.O.B. in Washington. He has all the Dems, a big part of the Rino's, the main stream media, some of Fox, and most of celebrity and academia doing all they came to stop him. Yet he kept a stiff spine. That's a lot of resistance to hold up under.

He keeps on keeping on through the vocal support of his base, we the people. Without those rallies and the average Joe showing up to cheer him on, I doubt He could go the distance. Who do you know who could.

He most likely knows more about how strong the threats against the country really are and cannot show our enemies where we are weak. I believe he is a patriot and therefor I will stand with him even with this error. Hopefully the base will realize what Trump is up against and turn out to keep him in the game.

Don't quit on him. He needs us and we need him.

I think Trump is pretty slick. His goal is the bring down the Fed and there is no better way than pushing the debt level up until it can't take it anymore and it collapses. With China averting the petro dollar and not buying US treasuries the debt cannot be funded and the Fed has no move. Other countries will not buy our debt either and they won't need to hold dollars to buy oil anymore. If raising the debt and placing tariffs on China works the Fed's fiat currency system will explode.

America will be forced to issue their own currency and rebuild from within with jobs and production consumed at home. Very painful times ahead with soaring inflation and limited goods available but we will finally be free of the Fed's system. The only way to destroy the Fed and be free again is expanding the debt very quickly now while everyone is already borrowed to the hilt. There is no better way to use the debt expansion than the military. I think it's pretty slick how he did it so he didn't tip his hand at his end game. The timing is perfect as well. Hold on it's going to be a heck of a ride.

None of this will ever happen now, and Trump has no-one to blame but himself. Because of him, any chance in November are gone. Had he used his veto power, his base would have fought with him. That wont happen now. The worst part of the entire fiasco is that the worst is yet to come......just wait until everything thats in the bill becomes known! All this talk of Trump playing chess in a checkers game is pure delusional.....he got his negotiating hat handed to him big time. The swamp didnt just buy him a ticket, they sent him a cab...

This very true but how long do you think the current system will go on? All fiat currency eventually reaches it true value and that is zero. President Kennedy was shot for trying to get rid of the Fed and Trump is very much aware. I feel he has true guts and I doubt his base will erode as time moves on.

I was particularly fond of that brilliant strategic maneuver he executed by saying he’d veto it AFTER republicans had gone on record as supporting it.

Might have gotten better results had he said that BEFORE they did so they could use that leverage to get consessions? Doesn’t really garner confidence on their part that he won’t turn on em in a heartbeat on other stuff too.

My thoughts for some time. While "successful" running his own little business he ain't anything remotely close to being CEO capable of any major domestic or international corporation. Rex made his mind spin I am sure. Trump doesn't know what it takes to make a real deal. We shall see what the future brings.
Posted By: JamesJr Re: Trump Signed The Bill! - 03/24/18
I had very high hopes for a Trump presidency, hopefully 8 years of one. I wanted to see a SCOTUS full of conservative judges, border security that kept the damned illegals out, protection of our Second Amendment rights, and a huge cut in spending by the Feds. A little over one year after being in office, it's not looking as rosy as I'd hoped. In addition, there is very real possibility that the GOP could lose either the Senate or the House, or both, and that does not bode well for the rest of his term.

People running for office often say things they don't mean. They're no different from the teenage boy in the back seat of his car who promises the girl that if she'll just let him do it, that he'll marry her, or never tell, or pull it out before it's too late........anything to get what he wants. Trump promised a lot, and so far hasn't been able to deliver a lot.

I think he's been hampered by the Mueller investigation, and all the publicity, and by the huge turnover rate of his staff. I also believe he was woefully unprepared for the job. Running the country is not like running a private business.

However......I also thank God that I don't have watch the news and see that old prune faced hag Hillary being addressed as Madame President. That definitely helps put a damper on the disappointment I've felt over Trump.

Trump has never been a successful business man. He was born with a silver spoon - or rather a 24 ct gold spoon - in his mouth and he learned how to make noise and attract attention. He was, and is, Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian, before there was a Paris or a Kim. He's just a whore to cameras and microphones.

What he calls is "businesses" are generally run by other companies which he simply lends his name to. He's a brand, not a businessman. I can't believe how people have fallen for this.

Congress can pull this shat on Trump, but they'd *never* be able ta do it on EdM.

When did Trump become such a god like figure? I don’t get it.

I voted for the guy 2x and would do it again.

Does criticizing him mean we’re somehow betraying something? If so, I hope it’s bigger than him cuz I’ve alwsys been a principals guy not into cults of personality.

Since when does criticism in politics... on the Internet... require that one be able to do better?? That’s utterly retarded...

I agree with Trump signing it. Couldn't afford not to with all the volatility in the air re potential trade disputes.

I suspect that next week he will be pushing to exempt military spending from Continuing resolution financing. THEN, he can veto the next POS CR.

Amen Hank.

I loved how he stuck it to the media. It made great sense that being a good businessman he’d pick good people to work with him and let them do their jobs with minimal interference.

I really hated Cruz’s whining and after RP dropped out he was the only somewhat Conservative candidate left.

I still have high hopes that Trump can learn as he goes. I don’t think he is an idiot but I do think that this idea out there that he is some sort of genius is retarded. He could definitely do better if he’d go with that thought that attracted me... hire good people to work for him, stand back and do what he is told while using twitter to drive an agenda in cahoots with Conservatives like Rand Paul and Ben Sasse.

that won't work either. He can't negotiate his way out of a paper bag.

I think Trump gave it to us straight. He didn't like the bill, but signed it so that we can strengthen our military at a critical time. He, more than anyone else, realizes what we are looking at as far as serious international threats are concerned, and our current military capability to respond to them. Look at how he has reshuffled his cabinet and who the strategic thinkers are.

Trump is getting ready to play some serious hardball, and doesn't want to waste six months or a year of political bickering getting his tools ready to do so. And yes, I WILL vote for him again.

maybe....stay tuned....pretty soon we'll be hearing "I was forced to sign this POS bill because our military is held hostage to CR financing"....

if the military can be exempted from it, that is a BFD going forward in this chitty process.

if that happens, then he and the military will break this country exactly the way we broke the Soviet Union. We made them spend themselves to death. If we repeat that mistake we will suffer the same fate. We already have - by miles and miles - the biggest military the biggest portion of our budget devote to the military and we don't need DJT fishing for a war to call his own - not in the Middle East with Iran or the West Pacific with gopher-boy. the way he is going, we will have both.

Last I heard there was no money for hiring more border patrol agents, and no money for building any of his wall. Zilch.

Only money in there was to continue and repair what's up now.

efw,

Now you're on to something! Both parties count on their voters to NEVER criticize "their man" . Once they get in they get a free pass from the voters that elected them! Stupid.

People pat themselves on the back for getting off their ass once every four years and voting for the lesser of two evils, then sit right back on their ass and excuse their laziness by saying "at least it isn't so-and-so".

It happens with both parties.

My Girl friend read something today about the Chess game.

The Corps. of Engineers is part of our military and as such the Corps. of Engineers can build the wall to protect our Domestic security from foreign threats.

We can only hope.

And for tyhe guy who said walls never work.

I think the Great wall of China has worked out pretty well for China for hundereds of years.
Why do we need more military spending? We spend now more than the next ten biggest military spending countries in the world combined. The Deep State wants more military spending so we can fight Israel’s wars in the Middle East. It’s not for us.

Does this look like more winning?

- Border security funding- for Jordan, Tunisia and Lebanon, yet no funding for a wall on our own border.

- Continued federal funds for sanctuary cities across the country who defy immigration law and harvest tomorrow's Democrat voters.

- Full federal funding for Planned Parenthood so the taxpayers can finance abortions en mass.

- Oh, and my personal favorite- another pay raise for everyone in Congress, but why not, they're doing such a great job.

There is still hope. Certain members of congress voted against this abortion. They even called it an abortion before trumpy signed it. This is why a voting record is so important. It helps educated people so they can make good voting decisions.

To make it clear to DC that we are wise to the fact that they just pander to us, they'll just do whatever the hell they want and then guilt us into voting for more of the same over and over again by saying if we don't, we're only supporting the enemy. How long do we have to keep doing the same thing and keep falling for the same scam before we grab them by the balls and push some mandates from the states down THEIR throat for a change?

Very disappointed he signed the spending bill. Obviously we don't know why he did. Could it have to do with the upcoming talks with NK? With the Iranian nuclear agreement. Maybe like someone said funding for the wall is linked to military spending. The money has been allocated but that doesn't mean it has been spent or that it must be spent. Don't know who actually signs off on the expenditure. Still very disappointing. I would have preferred an extended government shutdown.

Honest question: What parts of the spending bill are anti-gun?

Our government is like a young couple spending way beyond their means because they have access to credit. That was going on way before President Trump arrived. Every time we shut down the government, we lose. It also hurts a lot of folks who are depending on a check for services rendered. Congress is not going to come up with an intelligent spending bill or Budget overnight, even if they are willing to try. So what was Trump going to do?

As it is, this will be re-visited very shortly. The Executive Branch doesn't write legislation.

23 pages and I ask the one question pertinent and universal to this site, but that kills the thread?
Posted By: Muffin Re: Trump Signed The Bill! - 03/24/18
I have not read through this thread in it's entirety............. But.

Should TRUMP have VETOED?? My gut is yes, with a 'now get back to work and write a real spending Bill'

Would that have occupied the News for the next two months......... probably! All because TRUMP shut the GOV down over............. pick your favorite DEM talking point....

So he's damned if does and damed if he doesn't.............. He sure as chitt ain't gettin' much help from the REPs..............

Is it possible, as unpalatable as this spending measure is, that it is better to have it out of the way for THIS???

Grand Jury....deals....cooperating witnesses, Page, Strzok, Ohr
I'll answer my own question: Leaving out stuff other than guns, it appears the Bill contained the NICS fix and also allowances for the CDC to study guns as they do tobacco. It should have been vetoed on the NICS fix alone.
A real difference maker woulda told congress to stuff that bill where the sun don't shine.

Trump signed it.

The end.
Posted By: JoeBob Re: Trump Signed The Bill! - 03/24/18
He should have vetoed it, but he would have been overridden most likely.

This was a real frickin hit job by Paul Ryan and Turtle McConnell. They backed Trump into the corner in this one. If he vetoed it, it would have played well with us, his base but it would have been an open declaration of war against the RINOs in Congress. And with the midterms coming up that could have very well meant a Democratic Congress and he will spend the next two years fighting off impeachment proceedings.

Right now, he is being attacked on all fronts all the time. I’ll keep the faith for now. I’ve seen this magnificent orange bastard bounce back and come out swinging too many times by now to ever count him out.

Yeah, that's me too.....which is why I like to call those people as being "Trump's Monica." No matter what he does, they get all giggly and goo-goo, and get a tingle down their leg, and tell us how great a chess player he is, and that we dummies just don't see what he's really doing. Trump is nowhere close to being the smartest man in the room, and he is a typical rich person, in thinking that his money allows him to do as he pleases. With that being said, I want him to lead this country down the path towards getting back some of what we lost during the past 20 years or so. He had the opportunity to do so when he took office, having the GOP running the whole shebang. He made campaign promises, and he has yet to act on them, and that's why I voted for the man.

Only if we had a president that didn't want gun control in the first place...

What dimension of chess is he playing now?

I have supported Trump on nearly everything he's done, but I don't support him on this. I have said before, some of the stuff he's said is baffling. I have not stated that he's playing any sort of chess-those are other posters. My support or lack thereof, is generally pretty straightforward, based upon the actions of an individual first and foremost and secondly on what they say especially if there is no record of what they've done. So I don't know what dimension of chess, checkers, Old Maid or the like is being played.

It would help if he'd just speak plainly and say what he means, and mean what he says.

The games are getting old.

Especially when he signed gun control bills that Obama never had the chance to sign.

Have to admit that is puzzling, kind of like Malcom Fraser capitulating to the unions here and their best friend Bob Hawk bending them over and using no lubricant.

Sometimes you cannot pick what people will or won't do.

Chess my ass the bastard lied to us caved to the dems and thru his most loyal supporters under the bus. Freedom once lost is very seldom regained. Tell me again what a great negotiator he is then show me what we got in return for more gun control. Sorry to say it appears that it makes no difference who we support it may take a little longer but we will lose it all in the end. Congratulations Mr President you just turned Pennsylvania blue again. Watch the midterms the dems will have both houses and Trump will be a lame duck for the rest of his term. And before you call me a anti Trumper look back at my posts i had great hopes for this guy my disappointment is beyond profound.

Pretty sure this is the final budget for FY2018. The one that was due October 1, last year. just a little late, officer. blush

No change to the CDC from what I've heard. It just reiterates that they can study gun violence, which they always could. They still aren't allowed to advocate for gun control.

Unfortunately, the above states exactly how I feel today.

Instead of national concealed carry reciprocity, I find that my tax dollars are funding gun control brain washing and more restrictions on law abiding gun owners. President Trump put together a great coalition - and is rapidly pissing it all way.
