. The average user is not really expecting more than what my great uncles got from iron sights on smooth bores back in the '40s.
That is actually the crux of the issue. Average isn't the barometer of much of anything, no matter who it pains to hear it. What most don't get is that the VAST majority of scopes, even "high end" ones, aren't built for much more.
It's sad when people demand more reliability out of their toaster then out of their scopes....
