My Neighbor, his wife, and Myself used .22-250s for mule deer a lot, mostly depredation tag hunts where shots were picked easily on feeding field mule deer.
I don't remember exactly the powder charge, but it was a fairly slow velocity load of 4895, and the Speer 70gr semi-spitzer bullet, they worked very well. today there are a lot of other bullet selections with heavy jackets, back when we were doing this a lot (80's) the Speer bullet was about the only thing on the market that wasn't a varmint grenade or a FMJ
