Smaller pike get washed up on gravel in some of the 50/100 mph winds we get where we guide moose. A trough forms on the end of the lake and a bit of water. When its over if we find a small pike in that trough we catch and release back into the lake.
I have never seen a pike escape. Every last one has been eaten by bigger ones. Granted we have not seen or caught anything over 36 inches but its a small lake and it never gets fished excepting a bit during 25 days in the fall.
