How far do you shoot when hunting? What do you hunt in?
Both will drop deer farther then most can hit them. Both are accurate.
The 708 comes in short, light, handy rifles that fit well in thick stuff, and if you hunt from a tree they are easier to get around branches and leaves. The 25-06 will shoot flatter over a bean field, but gives up some bullet wgt to do so. The cartridge also needs a longer barrel to do its stuff and a long action to handle the extra 1/2" lenght.
Really IMO you can`t go wrong with either.
