Being a Grand Master looney, I have many guns in the 25-06 to 7-08 range. But when it came time to make the "one gun" choice for my son, the .270 was an easy call. There are absolutely no downsides to the .270 unless you HAVE to have a short action (but if the 25-06 is in the hunt, that argument must not apply.)
